The Role

As a Network Installation and Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems in central office environments and remote sites. You will ensure the smooth operation of communication networks through effective management of equipment and customer support. Your focus will be on provisioning and maintaining advanced telecommunication systems, including DSL, POTS, GPON, and multiplexers.

Location and Schedule

This is a full-time position based in Lebanon, OR. Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with potential for weekend and overtime shifts.

Main Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, analyze, and repair complex telecommunication equipment, including switching systems and circuit devices using electrical measuring tools.
• Plan jobs, determine materials needed, and maintain accurate work logs while keeping team members informed on project statuses.
• Travel to various central office locations to perform necessary duties.
• Review and interpret work orders, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings, following standard practices for all tasks.
• Utilize diagnostic test programs to analyze defects in telephone switching equipment.
• Maintain emergency and routine 911 service support for statewide Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
• Perform installation, testing, and acceptance of circuit equipment across various technologies.
• Troubleshoot customer circuits, network components, and infrastructure, ensuring successful service delivery.
• Use laptops and testing devices to configure systems and install individual services.

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Minimum of six months' experience in diagnosing circuit trouble and performing testing using volt-ohm meters and similar equipment.
• Experience in provisioning and maintaining telecommunication circuits including POTS, DSL, and fiber.
• Proficiency in maintenance of DMS 100/10 Switches and a working knowledge of SONET/DWDM equipment.
• A valid driver's license with a satisfactory record is required.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including potential overtime and on-call duties.
• Preferred Qualifications
• At least 12 months of experience diagnosing and testing circuit issues.
• Experience with 5ESS switches and working knowledge of IP Ethernet technologies.
• Certifications in maintenance and operation of various DSL systems and equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Compensation

Minimum hourly rate: $13.25
