JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Instructional Technologist supports faculty, staff, and students in using campus-wide instructional technologies, including the learning management system, Google Workspace, Office 365, web conferencing, generative AI, and other tools that enhance teaching and learning. The technologist also designs and delivers in-person and online training sessions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and students to support in-person and online teaching and learning.
- Assist faculty, staff, and students in effectively using instructional technologies.
- Provide personalized, ongoing support to faculty in designing and enhancing courses.
- Offer expertise on best practices and emerging trends in instructional technology.
- Guide faculty and staff in creating accessible course materials.
- Develop and deliver workshops, webinars, and one-on-one training sessions on instructional technologies for faculty, staff, and students.
- Create and maintain documentation, tutorials, multimedia content, and other resources to promote effective use of instructional technologies.
- Collaborate with vendors, IT staff, Library staff, and users to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to instructional technologies.
- Conduct classroom visits to assist faculty in understanding and effectively using instructional technologies such as AV systems, projectors, and interactive displays.
- Provide occasional dedicated drop-in assistance to students in the Library, focusing primarily on setting up printers on their devices and helping them download required software.
- Serve as a Canvas Administrator and the primary escalation contact for student-facing LMS and exam proctoring issues.
- Monitor emerging trends and best practices in instructional and emerging technologies, recommending and promoting new tools or approaches to enhance learning.
- Market departmental services and manage the department's website, YouTube channel, and other outreach platforms.
- Provide administrative support to the Committee on College Teaching and Learning, including conference planning.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of student and faculty interactions and sensitive information encountered during professional duties.
- Contribute expertise to University operations through active participation in committees, task forces, and working groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

As an employee of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the Instructional Technologist - Data Analyst promotes technology integration in the curriculum and supports the exploration of emerging learning technologies, including supporting faculty research. This position partners with HWS faculty members to explore and evaluate innovative ways to use data-related technology and pedagogies to support learning environments where students can succeed. This role resides within the Digital Learning Team, which is a part of the Learning Commons, a collaborative, cross-organizational venture between the Library, Center for Teaching and Learning, and IT Services. This team member will be expected to assess instructional and learning needs, design and recommend technology solutions, develop faculty and student support materials, implement instructional strategies to achieve learning goals, and practice continuous professional development. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping classroom instruction and enhancing student learning outcomes. Candidates with a strong background in learning technologies, coding, and data analysis-combined with prior classroom teaching experience-will be well-qualified for this position. Exceptional applicants may also be considered for a 'Professor of Practice' appointment within the Data Analytics program; subject to review by program faculty.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Participate in curriculum development, and technology selection discussions at course, program, and institutional levels.
• Advise, support, and assist with the use of data science tools (R-Posit Cloud and Posit Connect, Python-Jupyter Notebooks, GIS, SQL and GitHub.) that lead to the achievement of learning outcomes.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year, with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours period. Some on-call, weekend, and evening hours may be necessary. The position will be located in Geneva, NY., with the option for partially remote work. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Annual salary is $60,500 - $75,500.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree required, Master's degree preferred in education, geography (GIS), data analytics, computer/information science, math/statistics, sociology, psychology, natural sciences, economics, management/entrepreneurship - or training-related field and/or a certificate in Data Analytics from an accredited program
• 1 - 3 years of professional experience with educational technology tools
• Experience as classroom teacher or trainer
• Demonstrable ability to write and interpret code in at least one programming language widely used in academic research, such as R or Python

**Your Main Mission:**
+ Work as part of a team to support a dynamic specialized training program.
+ Conduct consultations with instructors and course directors to determine instructional requirements, needs, and solutions and assist with course/content approval process.
+ Manage training design and development projects including collaborating with technical designers to develop products in support of the training, reporting on progress, and using a database to track projects.

Additionally, you will collaborate and train with the staff from Boston Medical Centers Solomont Simulation Center, a state-of-the-art training facility and affiliate partner to Boston University CAMED. Key Responsibilities: Technical Operations
- Operate and maintain simulation equipment, manikins, and AV systems.
- Troubleshoot and support digital media, streaming, and recording systems.
- Collaborate with vendors (e.g., Laerdal, Elevate) for system support and upgrades. Simulation Center Oversight.
- Guide students and faculty through clinical workflows.
- Manage standardized patient sessions and simulation logistics.
- Maintain inventory and ensure equipment readiness. Client Support & Customer Service.
- Assist faculty and students with clinical training and simulation-based learning.
- Support affiliated programs using clinical skills and simulation centers. Administrative Scheduling & Tracking/Reporting.
- Coordinate simulation activities using Elevate, 25Live, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Track student participation and support data collection for reporting. Communication & Collaboration.
- Develop and distribute communications to faculty, staff, and students.
- Respond to RHCSSC inquiries and maintain digital communications and the website.
Required Skills
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or certificate in technology or a health-related field and/or 5 years of experience in related fields (for example, A/V or IT Tech, simulation, medical assistant, EMT)
- Bachelor's degree and/or more than 3 years of experience in related fields preferred
- Experience in healthcare simulation or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) is a plus Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical troubleshooting and AV/media skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms.
- Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork.
- Willingness to learn about medical simulation and how to support medical education using simulators
- Ability to lift equipment and be adaptable to flex work schedule to cover the Centers operational needs.

**What You'll Do:**
You'll have a variety of exciting challenges, including but not limited to:
+ Designing and developing new curriculum materials and Interactive Multimedia Materials (IMM) that captivate and educate.
+ Enhancing and updating existing curriculum and Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) products tailored for NETC and diverse Learning Centers.
+ Leading the transformation of legacy curriculum from AIM I and II formats to the latest AIM CPM/LOM systems and future training initiatives.
+ Collaborating closely with both military and civilian experts, fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.
+ Acting as the forward lead at NETC HQ in Pensacola, FL and as company liaison for Amentum affairs.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of recent job-related experience, OR a high school diploma and eleven (11) years of recent job-related experience.
+ Ability to travel as needed. (Minimal travel).
+ On-site presence at NETC HQ (250 Dallas St, Pensacola, FL., 32508).
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Candidates without a clearance will not be able to begin working on the contract until at least an interim secret clearance is granted.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Familiarity with Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) software.
+ Knowledge of Content planning Module (CPM) and Learning Objective Module (LOM).
+ Certified as a Master Training Specialist (MTS).
