The Doe Run Company is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to support operations by ensuring all instrumentation is functional and calibrated properly while safely maintaining production goals. This day shift position is located at Brushy Creek Surface in Boss, Mo.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technical Degree in Electronics or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with process control instrumentation, electrical, and industrial electronics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Drafting (AutoCAD).
- Proficient knowledge of AC, DC, and mA circuits, measurement test equipment, reading wire diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficient knowledge of Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Proficient understanding of PLC programming and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Basic knowledge of ladder logic or function block preferred.
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and conduct periodic calibration of instruments on a wide range of equipment such as analyzers, PLC and process control equipment, communications network, environmental emission, and data logging equipment for environmental compliance, operating cameras, and field monitoring equipment.
- Rebuild equipment, including requisition and order parts, tear down, and rebuild existing equipment, as needed.
- Install, program, and calibrate new equipment. Evaluate the latest technologies for feasibility and efficiency.
- Serve as a project manager, which includes a detailed scope of work, provide specifications, plan, coordinate, budget, and hire outside contractors if necessary. Send materials list out for bid and keep costs in line with budget.
- Train operational staff on the proper use of equipment.
- Create drawings and documents for future reference. Maintain records of maintenance projects.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and sustainability of the instrument tech preventative maintenance program.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts. Regularly required to wear a respirator (BRRD); Occasionally required to work underground (SEMO), exposed to outdoor weather conditions and wet, humid (non-weather) conditions. Occasionally exposed to vibration, required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, fall protection, a respirator (SEMO), hearing protection, footwear, and eyewear. Rarely required to work at heights of 4 or more feet with fall protection, work in confined spaces, exposed to extreme cold (non-weather), or extreme heat (non-weather). May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl, use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Requires precise hand-eye coordination, clarity of vision, ability to distinguish color, and three-dimensional vision. Requires concentrated attention.

**What You Will Do**
+ Repair, calibrate and install in good working condition primary measuring elements, transmitters, controllers and final control elements for measurement and control of flow, temperature, pressure, and weight. Skills required including troubleshooting electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic devices as well as basic computer programming and repair.
+ Find and correct problems in electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrument systems using instruction manuals. Be proficient in using test equipment to isolate these problems. Operate mobile equipment and pick-up trucks in the normal performance of the job. Must be able to read, draw, work from and explain P&IDs, blueprints, sketches, and drawings. Connect and disconnect instrument systems for repairs.
+ Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, manlifts, and pick-up trucks in the performance of the job. Must be able to use hand and power tools and electrical test equipment. Repair control valves and other final control elements. Must understand all types of electrical systems, i.e. alternating and direct current systems.
+ Must be able to read and interpret PLC ladder logic and HMI display graphics. Ability to create/modify logic and HMI graphics.
+ Will be required to work some overtime.
+ Must be able to work in union with same or other craftsmen to accomplish job objectives.
+ Manage hazardous waste, which may include proper collection, packaging, labeling, segregation, storage, use of waste manifest and shipping; according to company procedures and instruction.
+ Work through proper channels to ensure MOC process is followed
+ Understanding of SIS programming and ability to comprehend/add/modify as needed
+ Provide project support as new equipment and modifications are made to equipment
+ Work with controls engineers to improve manufacturing equipment and system performance
+ Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to engineering instructions, knowledge of electronics, and technical manuals
**What You Bring**
**Required:**
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ Must have at least 4 years experience in the Instrumentation and Controls field.
+ Possess good communication skills for interaction with all chemical plant employees. Ability to receive verbal and written direction including plant safety rules, policies and procedures and implement without direct supervision.
+ Physical requirements: Lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent walking, bending, stooping, balancing, ascending, and descending ladders, operating various mobile equipment, pulling, crouching, twisting and reaching. Must have near and far vision with clarity at 20 feet of less, hear well enough to perceive the nature of sounds and have good depth perception as well as be able to distinguish colors. Requires handling tools and equipment necessary to perform above listed tasks.
+ Familiarity with RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, and Factory talk
+ Technical Programming certification

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Instrumentation Technician III with expertise in C-Cure 9000 software to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced instrumentation systems, with a strong focus on security and access control systems utilizing C-Cure 9000. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain instrumentation systems, with a primary focus on C-Cure 9000 panels and associated hardware.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to C-Cure 9000 software and hardware, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on instrumentation systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
Provide technical support and training to junior technicians and staff on C-Cure 9000 operations and best practices.
Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to instrumentation and access control systems.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.

A Brief Overview
Under the direction of an Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer or Director FFS the Instrumentation Technician perform highly skilled work on the full range of systems and equipment, demonstrate a high degree of expertise on most or all the systems and work independently with little assistance from a lead or supervisor. The Instrumentation Technician May also develop new methods or procedures for carrying out unique assignments; and give direction, instruction, and support to
others.

What you will do

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and calibrate complete systems and components including control programming software/tools, computers, communications networks, and software

Work with engineers and other groups on there-design, installation, modification, and performance of new systems

Perform preventive maintenance and functional analysis of all these systems, including the ability to work with the software and control level wiring (less than 50 volts)
-
Install, configure, and use software to complete instrumentation tasks
-
Starts up, and commissions new instrumentation systems, documents startup and testing procedures for new and existing equipment
-
Repairs such equipment as appliances, Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting, alarm systems and other process controls

Maintaining critical spare parts, analyzers and equipment under management
-
Responsible for recording all work performed in CMMS (Maximo) including status, log notes, associated hours and failures.

Maintains a safe and clean work environment at all times.

Transport various supplies, parts, and building materials and deliver to appropriate locations as required.
Education Qualifications

Course or certificate completion in specialization field
Experience Qualifications

Four (4) to six (6) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $56.68 - $63.84 per hour
