Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer on enterprise-wide risk financing and renewal strategies for all insurance lines.
Collect, analyze, and maintain enterprise risk and claims data to inform leadership decisions and Board reporting.
Partner with Quality & Patient Safety teams to drive loss prevention, regulatory compliance, and provider reporting to the National Practitioner Data Bank.
Lead or participate in committees such as the Claims Committee and Underwriting Committee , ensuring timely communication of risk and claims activity.
Provide strategic input on insurance requirements in contracts, leases, and vendor agreements.
Support system-wide education and quality initiatives related to claims prevention and mitigation.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare risk management, insurance, or claims administration.
Demonstrated experience in litigation management, insurance coverage analysis, and risk financing.
Proven success collaborating with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex priorities.
Preferred Education & Experience
Advanced degree in business, law, or health professions preferred.
Experience managing or advising captive insurance programs a plus.

As the Director of Insurance, you are responsibile for the strategic oversight and administration of the company’s insurance programs and claims management within the Risk Management Department. The position ensures that all insurance initiatives are fully aligned with enterprise risk management (ERM) objectives, while also advancing the integration of innovative technologies—including artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT—to enhance reporting, analytical capabilities, and organizational communication.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads a team accountable for the performance and results of a function, industry and/or region.
- Receives work in the form of objectives and strategically determines how to use resources to meet deadlines and goals.
- Drives a culture of open communication.
- Lead procurement, renewal, and administration of corporate insurance programs.
- Makes recommendations regarding insurance renewals, budget allocations, policy endorsements, coverage structures, and claim strategies.
- Provides input on large claim settlements, risk transfer methods, and broker/carrier relationships.
- Integrate insurance strategies into the ERM framework and ensure accurate ERM reporting and dashboards.
- Leverage AI tools, including ChatGPT, to improve reporting, streamline workflows, improve efficiency and enhance communication.
- Monitor claims activity, analyze loss trends, and prepare executive-level reports.
- Manage insurance budgets, allocations, and related financial reporting.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the Risk Management Specialist.
- Serve as primary liaison with brokers, insurers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the SVP of Risk Management on coverage, limits, and risk transfer strategies.

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in insurance or risk management.
- Strong background in insurance procurement, claims oversight, and policy review.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience communicating and presenting to large teams or audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of ERM systems.
