Job Description
Our client, a distinguished law firm, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Intellectual Property Lawyer to join their prestigious practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US . This is a critical role requiring extensive expertise in all facets of intellectual property law, including patent prosecution, trademark registration, copyright protection, and trade secret litigation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background, a proven track record of success in complex IP matters, and exceptional client management skills. This position requires dedicated on-site work to collaborate with partners, clients, and support staff within the firm's offices.
Key responsibilities will include:
A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the Minnesota State Bar are required. Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is essential. A minimum of 10 years of dedicated experience in intellectual property law is mandatory. Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills are paramount. A technical background in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline is highly preferred. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced IP lawyer to join a leading firm and manage significant caseloads.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing patent application filings, prosecution, and maintenance for clients across various technical fields.
- Conducting IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing transactions.
- Advising clients on IP strategy, portfolio management, and protection.
- Representing clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.
- Drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements, including licenses, assignments, and joint development agreements.
- Handling IP litigation matters, including infringement and validity disputes.
- Providing counsel on copyright law, domain name disputes, and online IP issues.
- Conducting freedom-to-operate analyses and providing infringement opinions.
- Supervising and mentoring junior associates and patent agents.
- Staying current with evolving IP laws and regulations globally.
- Developing and delivering client presentations on IP matters.
- Collaborating closely with firm partners and other practice groups.
- Managing client relationships and expectations effectively.
- Contributing to the firm's growth and reputation in intellectual property law.
