We are presently searching for an Intermediate Designer for our Boston studio. The Intermediate Designer, working under general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Works with team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive projects
- Works with team to develop design ideas and create both presentation and construction drawings
- Drafts technical drawings
- Provides review of engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with design solution
- With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
- Ensures integration into overall design
- Preliminary concept plans for larger projects
- May develop and finalize conceptual design for smaller projects
- Oversees Intermediate Designer to review space plans and tackle more complicated issues
- Provides detail for interior and architectural design projects
- Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exterior
- Assists in developing packages for larger projects
- Obtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimates
- May be required to assist with support for field surveys
- Oversee tasks and provide feedback on work product
Qualifications:
- Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
- 4+ years experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of design principles, workplace trends and aesthetics
- Knowledge of repositioning and adaptive re-use projects
