NRDC is seeking an Senior HR Partner & Senior Manager, International HR to work with the People team in our Washington, D.C. office.
POSITION SUMMARY
NRDC is hiring a Sr. HR Partner & Sr. Manager, International HR to serve as a strategic partner, providing comprehensive HR support and partnership to NRDC’s senior leadership teams, with a particular focus on International, India, and China. This role will collaborate closely with leadership, ensuring HR strategies, policies, and programs are effectively implemented and aligned with organizational goals, local regulations, and cultural context. The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional with a strong background in international HR management, employee relations, and cross-cultural communication.
The Sr. HR Partner & Sr. Manager, International HR will carry out responsibilities in several functional areas of HR, including workforce planning, organizational design, talent management, employee relations, and policy interpretation / application. This role will also collaborate with other HR People SMEs in areas of talent acquisition, talent management, labor relations, communications, and compensation to customize HR solutions to meet client needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage, mentor, or coach local HR team in India and China. Provide regular individual coaching, feedback, and development while fostering team cohesion.

- Serve as a strategic and trusted advisor to International, India, and China leadership and staff, providing guidance on initiatives such as HR strategy, workforce planning, talent management, labor relations, and organizational development.

- Assist in union negotiation processes, including gathering data, drafting proposals, coordinating cross-functional input, and supporting leadership during collective bargaining discussions.
- Manage complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, investigations, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
- Identify training and development needs for client groups and individual leaders; partner with Talent Management SMEs to develop, implement, and measure solutions aligned with the organization’s objectives.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to managers, including coaching, mentoring, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Leads and/or supports rollout of annual HR cycle deliverables within client groups, including performance management, goal setting, and annual recognition.
- Collaborates with clients to understand their needs and partners with other HR SME’s including Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Analytics, Compensation, Communication, HR Ops, and ODEI to customize solutions.
- Leads or serves as a key contributor to organization-wide HR projects, including proactive, comprehensive project and stakeholder management.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees in U.S., China, and India to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance.

QualificationsMinimum Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, MBA preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive HR professional experience in several functional areas of HR, including strategic partnership, workforce planning, organizational design, talent management, employee relations, DEI, and policy administration.
- Experience in compensation is strongly preferred
- 3 years of previous supervisory experience is required.
- Experience successfully managing, coaching and developing executives and employees Strong and broad knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including talent management, employee relations, compensation practices, organizational design, DEI, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
- Experience in union environment preferred.
- HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR) is preferred
- Experience working in a global, matrixed, and culturally diverse environment.

Basic Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant experience and a BS OR 6+ years of relevant experience and an MBA
Experience should include 3+ years of participation in cross-functional project management activities

Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in project leadership, strategy execution, transformation, or HR consulting within a corporate environment
Proven ability to influence without authority, engage stakeholders at all levels, and drive alignment in matrixed settings

The Senior Manager, HR Change Management is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing change initiatives within the HR Shared Services organization to ensure smooth transitions, minimize disruption, and maximize employee adoption of changes related to HR processes, systems, and policies. The salary range for this position is $111,000.00 - $167,000.00 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

**Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
**Change Planning & Strategy:**
- Develop and execute change management strategies for SuccessFactors Employee Central implementation, launch of HR Shared Services, and ongoing change initiatives.
- Conduct impact assessments to identify risks, potential resistance points, and training needs.
- Define success metrics and monitor progress to ensure adoption and sustainability.
**Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:**
- Engage with leadership, employees, and cross-functional teams to gain buy-in.
- Design, develop, and execute communication strategies that effectively convey changes to associates at all levels of the organization.
- Address concerns and provide support to mitigate resistance.
- Provide guidance and coaching to senior leaders and managers on their roles in supporting change initiatives.
**Content, Training & Support:**
- Produce engaging content for various communication channels, including newsletters, emails, intranet posts, and presentations that effectively convey key messages related to HR changes.
- Collaborate with HR Technical Trainer in developing training materials and sessions that help employees understand new processes or systems introduced during change initiatives
- Facilitate workshops and coaching sessions to reinforce change adoption.
- Provide post-implementation support to ensure long-term success.
**Risk & Resistance Management:**
+ Identify potential barriers to change and develop mitigation plans.
+ Monitor feedback and adjust strategies as needed.
+ Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability.
**Reporting & Evaluation:**

**Minimum Education**
