International Logistics Specialist
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our International Logistics team. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for logistics which includes coordination with steamship lines, Customs, USDA, inspection/warehouse locations, and trucking/dray companies. Extensive communication with customers to coordinate shipments and documentation required.
Responsibilities:
+ Verify all customer instructions are complete and all necessary permits/ licenses are in place to meet country requirements
+ Book steamship line carrier. Logistics coordinator is responsible for determining carrier based on rate, availability, and customer service provided
+ Schedule appointments at warehouse facility according to production availability, facility costs, and free days/storage given
+ Coordinate delivery of full and partial truckloads to trans-load facilities. Decisions will be based off of facility costs, port congestion, and steamship line rate
+ Book inland trucking/dray carrier and dispatch. Logistics coordinator determines carrier to book based on rate, availability and on-time performance
+ Requests credit approval on shipment, confirms load details in transportation system/s, and then releases orders to the inspection facility
+ File shipment on Automated Export System (AES) for government requirements
+ Monitor containers throughout inland and ocean voyages. Confirms customs clearance with Customers upon arrival
+ Stay current on the constantly changing government requirements of international business/markets.
+ Responsible for daily crisis-management and rescheduling shipments if needed
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Business related field or 3 years import/export logistic experience preferred.
+ Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail
+ Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
+ Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
+ Experience in scheduling and planning a plus

JOB SUMMARY
The position of International Logistics Associate is responsible for both the transportation and logistics functions including international shipments to/from dozens of global locations and domestic locations. This position works cross functionally to ensure operational excellence in achieving our performance goals (KPIs).
Responsibilities include shipping, customs clearance, shipping documents and all record keeping for a variety of air freight, sea freight (FCL and LCL) and ground parcel/LTL transportation transactions in support of company business requirements. This role will manage 3PL and freight forwarders on international/domestic shipments to achieve on time delivery in support of company delivery contracts and schedules and will ensure the third-party logistics providers adhere to import-export and dangerous goods policies and laws. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Negotiate Logistics Service Pricing Agreements for all transportation modes.
- Ensure accurate shipment preparation including labeling, packing, and documentation for domestic and international shipments.
- Ensure all Hazmat shipping requirements are met for IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and IMDG Ocean.
- Establish freight forwarder and carrier performance standards & audit delivery performances for all providers and have forwarder/carrier performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Supply Chain, Logistics recommended.
- 3+ years of international logistics experience, hazardous or dangerous goods knowledge required, or related field with an International freight forwarder or within a chemical, or technology industry a plus.
