What You Will Get To Do:

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman Mission System's International Trade Compliance organization, working to ensure compliance with export laws that enhance foreign policy and protect national security. This role supports activities within the Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Maritime/Land Systems and Sensors (MLSS) Division.

The role and responsibilities of the International Trade Compliance Analyst or Principal International Trade Compliance Analyst include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage comprehensive internal export controls to ensure compliance with U.S. (ITAR and EAR) and foreign regulations in the conduct of international marketing, sales, supply chain, and other business activities.

  • Work to ensure compliance with export laws that enhance foreign policy and protect national security.

  • Establish and implement business processes for submitting to and obtaining from the U.S. government all necessary export and import licenses, permits, certifications, and technology release determinations.

  • Assure that transactions comply with government regulations and internal procedures by conducting gate reviews for technical data, foreign travel, foreign visits, and export and import shipments.

  • Maintain applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.

  • Participate in training and audit assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls.

  • Support law department in investigating and resolving compliance problems, questions, or complaints.

  • Commodity jurisdiction and classification determination; and making determinations regarding applicability of exceptions and exemptions.

  • Develop and deliver presentations, including Export General Awareness training, program/function specific export training, and program/capture export licensing strategy updates to Division leadership.

  • Seek management support and guidance as needed, including collaborating on decisions that have the potential to be high visibility or impact.

The successful candidate will have solid work experience in the defense industry with past work experience in the areas of contracting, international trade, or legal. The position will be responsible for integrating export/import regulations into business processes, applying for all DDTC and BIS licenses, and ensuring regulatory compliance to maximize business outcomes.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for International Trade Analyst:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience or Master's degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience in export/import licensing and compliance or a relevant field (e.g. Trade Compliance, Contracts, Legal, Program Management, etc.).

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Principal International Trade Analyst:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience or Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in export/import licensing and compliance or a relevant field (e.g. Trade Compliance, Contracts, Legal, Program Management, etc.).

  • Experience applying International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other US Government Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Compliance Intern Position Summary

The Customs Compliance Intern will work directly with the Director, a licensed Customs broker, and Senior Analyst in Customs Compliance. The position will support daily operations and projects relative to import and export compliance. In addition, this position will assist with the company's Free Trade Agreement program, to include the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada), CTPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program, and post entry audit. Working with internal and external business partners, the position will provide a collaborative experience working cross-functionally in a global company. Finally, this position will perform tasks related to general legal and product compliance.

As an INVISTA International Trade Compliance Analyst , you will be responsible for supporting the trade compliance activities of our downstream textile fiber business in North America and Europe.   • Manage and monitor the performance of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other trade service providers
  • Provide guidance and training to business units on trade compliance matters, such as classification, valuation, origin, documentation, licensing, and reporting
  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments of trade compliance activities and records, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Identify and execute cost savings and duty avoidance opportunities, such as free trade agreements, duty drawback, bonded warehouses, and foreign trade zones
  • Stay abreast of changes and developments in trade regulations and best practices, and communicate the impact and implications to the business
  • Manage and resolve any trade compliance issues or disputes with customs authorities or other agencies

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
