**What you'll do:**
**Position Overview:**
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will be responsible for one of two manufacturing engineering projects dedicated to work instructions or in-process inspections and test data management, in addition to other duties as assigned. The manufacturing engineering function is responsible for creating cycles of improvement throughout the organization by leading capital deployment, continuous improvement / cost-out projects, and other operations excellence initiatives.

**In this function you will:**
- Lead and report on one of two projects:
**Manufacturing Work Instructions:**
+ The Richmond plants lack robust manufacturing documentation for shop floor employees. This documentation is critical for ensuring the plant is producing a consistent product that conform to all applicable safety, quality, and statutory regulations. The scope of this project will be to identify all tasks that are missing manufacturing documentation, work with operations and engineering to create new documentation packages, then deploy the information to the shop floor. Richmond is also investigating to use of augmented reality tools for training applications, specifically the Microsoft Holo Lense 2. The project leader will review the capabilities of the Holo Lense and prepare a report for how this technology can be used at Richmond.
**In-process Inspections and Test Data Management**
+ The Richmond plants support data center customers who have very high standards for product quality. The demands of these customers have created the need for Richmond to improve its in-process quality inspections. Additionally, Richmond lacks a standardized tool for capturing in-process quality inspection and final test data. Eaton has an application for test data management called PCaT however implementation of this software is complex and will require coordination with quality, engineering, and IT. The scope of this project will include the creation of new in-process inspections to support data center customers as well as the implementation of the Eaton test data management system (PCaT).

**Qualifications:**
**Required (Basic) Qualifications:**
- Currently enrolled in an engineering discipline at an accredited institution (college or university).
- Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher.
- Relocation is not provided for this role, the candidate must be located within 50 miles of Richmond, VA.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- AutoCAD system experience and required working knowledge and experience with computers preferred.
- Experience with MRP systems (SAP).
- Strong coaching and facilitation skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Experience with Microsoft Project.

Our internships are six-month commitments, typically beginning in January and July, and are on-site in Martinez, California, for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. These assignments allow students to apply their academic preparation to practical work experience in a wastewater utility environment.

Other duties include interacting with contractors and the public at both the Permit counter and in the field for construction projects; assisting the construction inspection group to ensure contractual compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety requirements, including checking cut sheets for line and grade; and verifying that materials being incorporated into a project are per specification. The position supports the Collection System Group sewer renovation program, Treatment Plant Group, Right-of-Way, and development review projects. Duties will include performing both office and field land surveying. Typical work includes managing small consulting tasks, calculating survey maps, using CAD systems, planning and researching projects, reviewing plans and land records, reviewing legal descriptions and plats, assisting with CAD drafting, and assisting with GPS and conventional surveys. Preferred qualifications: Completion of a survey course.

Collection System Program

This position seeks environmental, civil, mechanical, or related engineering majors to assist with collection system design and construction projects. This position will work with engineering and survey staff to replace and improve critical infrastructure in the surrounding cities, utilizing trenchless technologies, such as cured-in-place lining, pipe bursting, and horizontal directional drilling. Typical work includes determining and verifying field conditions, engineering calculations, data analysis, field surveying, researching equipment and construction methods, writing project documents and memoranda, preparing design details for project drawings, and assisting design and construction management teams. Projects currently under design and construction involve the replacement and rehabilitation of sewer pipelines, maintenance access hole structures, and various improvements in the collection system and pumping stations. Duties may require research and assistance with project management and development. This position may also perform literature searches, compile scientific data, perform data analysis and reduction, and write reports and presentations. SUMMER 2026


Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Under direct supervision of Senior Engineers, the Process Engineer ing Machine Controls Intern assists with research, development, and implementation of new or improved manufacturing process control systems. Assists with programming and integration of automated equipment using Labview, PLC programming, or other machine control languages/systems. Responsibilities

    Learns about Shure's industrial control and data collections systems philosophy and begins applying to projects worked on.
  • With the assistance of more senior engineers, learns how to create project plans for applications requiring machine control, including participation in creation of schedules, design of experiments, budgetary considerations, and machine control implementation.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of industry-standard machine controls for future manufacturing systems.
  • Assists with equipment and process modifications, incorporating to improve Shure's monitoring and data collecting capabilities for existing product lines.
  • Assists with defining processing equipment data collection and machine control requirements and specifications for a given application
  • Works with more senior engineers on experiments in order to compile and evaluate test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for manufacturing process or material specifications.
Qualifications
  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering
  • Basic knowledge of project documentation, including but not limited to schedules, drawings, lab notebooks, process reports, and project files and learns to use professional concepts
  • Working knowledge of basic software used in engineering: Labview, PLC ladder logic, MiniTab, MS Office Suite including Project
  • Able to apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
  • Able to follow standard instructions, practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data
  • Begins working on projects, with scope limited to specific tasks
  • Works under close supervision of more senior engineers
  • Has basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts, Quality, Statistics, and electro/mechanical design

SUMMER 2026

Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

Under direct supervision of Senior Engineers, the Process Engineer ing Machine Controls Intern assists with research, development, and implementation of new or improved manufacturing process control systems. Assists with programming and integration of automated equipment using Labview, PLC programming, or other machine control languages/systems. Our Sales Interns are assigned progressively challenging projects that support growth in our various lines of business-servicing existing elevators and escalators, installing new elevators and escalators, and modernizing elevators that have reached their natural life cycle. The projects assigned are related to core branch office functions that are customer focused, result-oriented, and performance driven which will require teamwork, research and problem-solving skills.
These are full-time, paid summer internships, typically ranging from 10-12 weeks, starting in June 2026. Throughout your internship, we provide continuous training and performance feedback to ensure you develop the necessary skills to succeed. Additional career opportunities are available upon conclusion of a successful internship, including placement as a Sales Trainee.
Education / Certifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree, preferably with a concentration in
Sales, Marketing, Business, or Engineering
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment
- Candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively develop expectations and relationships with internal and external

The hourly range for this role is $20-21/hr. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future.
