**Overview**
SOSi is seeking Senior Interpreters to support our customer in New York. Each Senior Interpreter will provide interpretation and translation services as well as local, on-the-ground oversight of community interpreters, ensuring service continuity across assigned borough locations (offices, shelters, IDNYC sites, and home visits).
**Essential Job Duties**
+ Provide daily supervision and support for interpreters assigned within the borough.
+ Verify interpreter attendance and compliance with shift-based and appointment-based scheduled on-site and virtual remote interpreting and translation appointments using the WordBridge system.
+ Serve as the first point of escalation for service disruptions, lateness, or no-shows.
+ Liaise with DSS/HRA/DHS staff and site managers to address real-time service needs.
+ Ensure adherence to HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and DSS/HRA/DHS codes of conduct.
+ Coordinate with other Senior Interpreters and Fulfillment Operations Manager on coverage gaps and urgent assignments.
+ Support recruitment and onboarding efforts by identifying local interpreter talent.
+ Provide accurate, culturally appropriate, and confidential consecutive interpretation between English and the target language during client interviews, appointments, home visits, and events.
+ Support on-site and/or video interpretation assignments.
+ Support document translation between English and the target language as needed.
+ Maintain professionalism and neutrality while preserving tone, meaning, and intent of all communications.
+ Arrive promptly for scheduled assignments and remain available for the full duration of the appointment or shift.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Requirements**
+ At least one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience in interpretation services, social services, or a related field.
+ At least five (5) years of experience in interpretation services.
+ Current, verifiable certification as an interpreter from a reputable certifying body.
+ Familiarity with multilingual service delivery in community-based settings.
+ Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous interpreter assignments.
+ Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
+ Must be based in or able to travel daily within the assigned NYC borough.
+ Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday assignments to support 24/7/365 operations.
**Work Environment**
+ Work performed on-site at multiple DSS/HRA/DHS locations within the borough, including offices, shelters, and field visits.
+ Requires daily travel within the assigned boroughs; occasional travel to other boroughs.
+ Target Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000.

  • Work where the patient need is highest (including flexing to other departments) when home department schedule allows
  • Primary work hours during the day, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with occasional weekend and holiday rotation required
  • This position is open to students in their final year of training, they can receive a monthly stipend for a maximum of 12 months before the official start date

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Master's degree from accredited speech and language pathology program

Current registration/license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of practice
