Job Description

Registered Behavior Technicians provide 1:1 behavioral intervention to individuals diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. We provide direct services to both children and adults in a variety of settings including private homes, schools, clinics and community settings.

Behavior Technicians implement behavioral strategies to improve socially significant behaviors and quality of life. This includes implementation of a treatment plan developed by a BCBA addressing communication, challenging behavior, daily living, safety and social skills. The Behavior Technician is responsible for monitoring patient progress by completing daily data collection and clinical documentation.

Essential Duties Include The Following:

  • Communicate BCI's philosophy of positive behavioral practice, compassion and respect
  • Follow all policies and protocols set forth in the BCI employee handbook
  • Collect daily data as prescribed by your supervisor (BCBA)
  • Complete clinical documentation to communicate with team members and insurance funders about progress on goals and any barriers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation
  • Implement the strategies outlined in the patient's behavior intervention plan
  • Timely communication with your supervisor about the child you are working with, especially if there are any concerns
  • Direct the child's caregivers and circle of support to your supervisor (BCBA) for any questions pertaining to the child's goals being addressed, progress being made, strategies to employ
  • Maintain professional boundaries with the child, family and circle of support per the BACB Professional and ethical Code of Conduct
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Authorization to work in the United States

  • 40 Hour online BACB approved coursework for the RBT credential (4 weeks)
  • 10 Hour attendance of virtual online Skills Clinics (2 weeks)

After the RBT training is complete, you will begin working with a client while you complete your formal skills competency checklist and take your RBT Exam within 60 days of working with clients, RBT exam is provided at Pearson Professional Testing Center near you.

POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Interventionist

Starting Pay: $20.69

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Interventionist (BI) is a non-certified position assigned to provide targeted assistance to students with special needs who present significant behavioral challenges. The BI has a daily schedule in the classroom but may be called upon by the administrator or Teacher of Record to intervene with a student who is demonstrating a significant behavioral issue in another part of the building. The BI will be an active member of the district Behavior Intervention Team and will participate in data collection, observations, student staffing and behavior strategy training/implementation in the classroom. The BI will be required to complete specialized training throughout the year to develop and sharpen skills needed in working with students who present challenging behaviors. The BI will be required to maintain confidentiality and present a professional appearance and demeanor.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Special Education Supervisor, Building Administrator

DUTIES:
  • Participate in specialized training before the start of the school year and periodically throughout the school year. Training will be related to behavior interventions, crisis prevention, collaborative problem solving and de-escalation strategies
  • Follow behavior intervention strategies described in the individual behavior intervention plan (BIP)
  • Provide assistance in a classroom to students with IEPs according to a daily schedule
  • Supervise students who may need to utilize calm down strategies in a designated location in the building
  • Participate as a member of the building Crisis Team with current CPI training
  • Participate on the Behavior Intervention Team including classroom training and modeling of specific behavior support strategies for a classroom teacher, paraprofessional and other building staff
  • Weekly consultation with the special education social worker or Behavior Consultant for specific student concerns
  • Collect data on behavior strategies and classroom interventions implemented with students
  • Consistently implement behavior and academic accommodations in the classroom with fidelity
  • Conduct formal guided observation of students in the classroom or building with documentation provided to the BIT


QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of college; or

History of working effectively with students exhibiting significant behavioral challenges.

Role Responsibilities (Here’s what it takes)
  • Provide 1:1 care directly with Clients during scheduled sessions under the supervision of a Board- Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Implement established behavioral treatment plans based on the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA) across skill levels, moderate to severe problem behaviors, and service delivery settings.
  • Ensure that 100% of the scheduled direct services are provided without any scheduling interruptions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Collect data related to Client’s progress during treatment sessions.
  • Incorporate activities and games that are developmentally appropriate and engaging for the client in alignment with the treatment plan.
  • Promote Client engagement to build their strengths in a natural and enjoyable manner.
  • Consulting with case Supervisor on treatment plans, Client updates, and intervention strategies.
  • Receiving and utilizing ongoing training, guidance, and support.
  • Follow program procedures, administrative tasks, direct therapy skills, and other duties that are in line with our compliance requirements.
  • Maintaining reliable communication to record scheduled appointments and return phone calls within 24 hours.
  • Ensuring that the company’s “zero tolerance policy” is understood, implemented, and reinforced in the region.
  • Completing all duties, tasks, and/or special projects assigned by leaders and/or the business.
  • Participating in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Providing make up hours as an alternate care team member.
