**Position Summary:**
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented **Inventory Coordinator** to join our Transport & Logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and updating inventory records, processing transfers, and ensuring accurate data entry across multiple systems. You will serve as a key point of contact between internal teams, dealerships, and transportation partners to ensure inventory accuracy and timely processing.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Process inter-company transfers in the internal inventory management system
+ Stock in new inventory units and update system records accordingly
+ Communicate with dealership personnel regarding inventory status and updates
+ Coordinate with the floor plan banks to approve new unit purchases
+ Monitor and maintain accurate records of inventory in the holding yard

**Qualifications:**
+ **Some experience in accounting functions such as bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, inventory reconciliation, or general ledger entries required**
+ Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; 10-key and accurate typing skills required
+ Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
+ Self-motivated and able to manage responsibilities independently
+ Prior experience with vehicle titles is a plus

**Summary of Position:**
The Inventory Accounting Director will work with various financial and operational leaders within the organization to oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Company's inventory accounting department. On a monthly basis, the Director will lead the closing of our inventory subledgers and prepare and / or review general ledger entries for gross margin. The Director will prepare budgets and forecasts and analyze variances from period to period. This role requires a balance of general accounting experience including inventory, internal controls (i.e. SOX), budgeting and forecasting, as well as baseline understanding of the retail business. **Principal Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for the monthly closing cycle for inventory accounting including all subledger and general ledger entries for gross margin.
+ Conduct the monthly review and adjustment of any inventory reserves (shrink and MD) and inventory capitalization entries for distribution costs.
+ Provide reporting of the Company's monthly gross margin under the retail inventory method and assess variances to budget, forecasts and prior year.
+ Prepare annual budget and monthly forecasts for gross margin including merchandise cost, shrink, markdowns, etc.
+ Assist with preparing presentations for management on key gross margin line items.
+ Supervise, support and develop the inventory accounting team.
+ Assist, as necessary, in resolving issues related to markdowns, transfers, physical inventory (stores), DC inventory and other financial statement-related issues.
+ Provide assistance to Operations, Logistics and Asset Protection with any financial issues related to inventory.
+ Participate in IT projects related to inventory including system enhancements and conversions including user acceptable procedures.
+ Ensure internal controls (SOX) are in place and executed for key inventory accounting steps and processes.
+ Participate in the annual financial statement audit and quarterly reviews.
+ Assist the VP Financial Reporting and Inventory Accounting when appropriate
**Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting.
+ 10+ years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 6-7 years in public accounting, Big 4 preferred.
+ Will consider candidates with a mix of public accounting and private company experience in financial reporting.
+ Generalized knowledge of inventory transactions and costing methods.
+ Working knowledge of internal control requirements including SOX.
+ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Adobe PDF.
+ Baseline knowledge of financial systems including query tools (SQL, Showcase, etc.)

What You Will Do:

Knowledge&Experience:

The Director, Cost & Inventory Accounting is a key contributor to the Finance organization and will lead efforts to scale the cost accounting function at GRAIL. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who has worked in a fast-paced public or private company and has demonstrated success in scaling and optimizing cost accounting to support a growing and evolving business.
This is a hybrid role and requires you to be onsite 2 days a week in Menlo Park, Ca.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Scale the cost accounting processes and develop the cost accounting team to support GRAIL's commercial growth
+ Lead cross-functional discussions, diving deep into lab and ancillary processes to provide technical accounting guidance in compliance with US GAAP, ensure consistent application of cost accounting principles, and identify cost savings opportunities
+ Collaborate with stakeholders across Revenue, FP&A, Operations, and Software to build reporting packages and executive-level dashboards
+ Own all relevant aspects of the period-end financial close process, including reviewing work, enhancing controls, and improving scalability
+ Develop an actionable, prioritized roadmap and lead implementation and scaling projects within Netsuite and Tableau
+ Lead quarterly reviews and annual audits related to cost accounting areas
+ Lead product costing and related financial analyses
+ Manage special projects and support ad hoc financial analysis
+ Maintain and enhance internal controls and ensure SOX-compliant documentation
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ 15+ years of total work experience
+ Experience in a diagnostics, genomics, or life sciences company (preferred)
+ 3+ years of experience leading a cost accounting team, including mentoring and staff development
+ 3+ years of public accounting experience; CPA preferred
+ Advanced analytical, project management, and spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets preferred)
+ Hands-on experience with Netsuite (required)
+ Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to remain flexible in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
+ Excellent professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Expected full time annual base pay scale for this position is $187K-$249K. Actual base pay will consider skills, experience and location.

Inventory Accounting Manager

Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client recruit their next Inventory Accounting Manager. The Inventory Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of inventory management processes and systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with US GAAP and internal policies. This position supports the organization's operational and financial objectives by providing strategic inventory planning, analysis, and insights to drive business decisions. The role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and finance, as well as an in-depth understanding of inventory management principles and practices in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve efficiency across the organization, including assisting with standard costing.
  • Oversee monthly inventory accounting close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting of inventory and COGS, to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and internal policies
  • Analyze and interpret complex inventory data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, and develop recommendations to drive business decisions
  • Lead cross-functional teams to monitor and improve inventory movement across manufacturing sites, third-party warehouses, 3PLs, and field locations, ensuring seamless inventory flow and minimizing discrepancies
  • Manage and maintain the inventory sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliation process, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely and effective manner
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and standard cost updates, and to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Develop and implement inventory-related reports and analytics to support management and FP&A teams in making informed business decisions
  • Oversee the annual physical inventory and cycle count processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and internal control requirements
  • Work with external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits, preparing schedules and responding to audit requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, and to drive continuous improvement in inventory management practices
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FDA or ISO standards, and maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Lead and develop a team of inventory professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and training to ensure the team has the necessary skills and expertise to perform their duties effectively

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, Master's degree preferred
  • CPA certification preferred, with experience in inventory accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience in data analysis and financial modeling
  • Experience with ERP systems (JDE preferred) and inventory management software
  • Training or knowledge of inventory/cost accounting in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, practices, and technologies, with ability to lead and implement process improvements
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on inventory or cost accounting, and 2+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, inventory valuation, and cost flows, with ability to apply knowledge in complex and dynamic environments
  • Familiarity with standard costing, bill of materials, and production order accounting, with experience in implementing and optimizing inventory management systems
  • Proven ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, and communicate insights clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills, with experience in leading and collaborating with teams to drive process improvements and achieve business objectives
  • Experience working in a SOX-compliant and FDA-regulated environment required, with strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
