SENIOR SYSTEMS MANAGER - CLOUD ARCHITECTURE (NAUT):
Bowhead seeks a Senior Systems Manager - Cloud Architecture to support our customer on the Nautical contract in the Arlington, VA area. This position requires on-site presence due to work requirements and will not entertain work from home capabilities.
**Responsibilities**
+ Strategic Architecture Leadership: Lead architectural design and implementation of cloud-native solutions for mission-critical Department of Defense applications, driving strategic migration of legacy DoD systems to secure cloud environments while ensuring compliance with federal security standards.

Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm, is seeking a visionary Principal Software Engineer specializing in Cloud Architecture to join their fully remote engineering team. This senior role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and scaling our cloud infrastructure and services. The ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in cloud-native technologies, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and a passion for building resilient, high-performance systems. You will lead technical design discussions, mentor other engineers, and drive innovation in our cloud strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native architectures on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Architect and develop robust microservices solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Define and enforce best practices for cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and code quality.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks and technical debt within the cloud environment.
• Evaluate and integrate new cloud technologies and tools to improve development and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, infrastructure, and deployment processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, with a significant focus on cloud architecture and infrastructure.
• Expertise in designing and implementing microservices architectures using containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go) and their application in cloud environments.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
