Position Overview:
Technicians perform a variety of animal-health duties to ensure exceptional patient care. Technicians should be proficient in intermediate nursing duties including but not limited to patient assessment and monitoring, phlebotomy, IVC placement, medication/fluid administration, medical calculations, anesthesia monitoring, etc. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of specialty medicine and the ability remain calm during stressful situations. The technician working in this position will be trained to work as a clinic tech within different departments including but not limited to internal medicine, neurology, and cardiology.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients utilizing a variety of technical skills including, diagnostic sample collection, intravenous catheter placement, etc.
- Assist the doctors with consultation and recheck appointments
- Work under the guidance of the physicians to relay information to clients
- Schedule new patient consultations, recheck examinations, procedures, and technician outpatient appointments for the specialty departments
- Coordinate daily scheduled appointments, procedures, emergency transfers cases, as well as inpatient consultations for canine and feline patients
- Keep current in veterinary medicine trends through CE attendance
- Minimum 2 years' professional experience in small animal clinical setting as a technician
- State certification to practice as a veterinary technician preferred
- Superior technical knowledge and skills
- Proficient in medical math calculations (drugs, conversions, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with clients and team members
- Proficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasks

- Verifies type and quantity of merchandise received for agreement with documentation provided brings to attention of supervisor discrepancies and or deficiencies found.
- Assists in assembly and loading of merchandise in connection with requests received.
- Unpacks segregates and stocks counters and or shelves with merchandise in accordance with established instructions. May price stamp merchandise.
- Assists in the conduct of periodic inventories by counting stock items remaining on shelves and in keeping storage and sales area clean and orderly.

Returns merchandise to store as required. Insures that proper documentation is made and copies are forwarded to appropriate departments.
- May be required to perform such other duties as operating price tag machine unloading boxes and packages and pulling merchandise from stock or stock shelves.
- As required assists customers in locating merchandise and answering questions of a general nature. May operate a cash register on an occasional basis.
- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor carrying out assignments with little review during progress of work. Specific instructions are provided on new and unfamiliar situations. Completed work is checked to see that instructions have been followed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Effort: Stands walks and handles merchandise up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions: Generally works indoors. Is exposed to drafts, heat e.g. combination controlled temperatures, climates and weather conditions, noise and dust. May have to stand for long periods.
Training Requirement: Associate must receive Hazardous Material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
