**Job Description**
The Senior Network Engineer's primary duties include operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting very complex IT networks. Will assist government users in system problem diagnosis and troubleshooting, collection of problem information, and recommendation of fixes. Participates in the daily activities of configuration and operation of customer IT networked systems. Provides quality assurance and operational reporting requirements. Will configure and test new technology, enhance current systems, and pioneer technology for new systems, work with cable fabrication, and troubleshoot communication lines and equipment.
Specifically, the selected candidate will work closely with military personnel for the operations and maintenance (O&M), install, testing and training of communication systems. Will perform in rack, cabinet, cable support system, and general telecommunications equipment mounting and terminate coaxial, Cat-6 UTP, multi-mode fiber, single mode fiber, and any other connection required in the support of telecommunications systems. Will troubleshoot end connectivity to distant end and remote locations and attached network devices and monitor Local and Wide Area Networks to include transport links, layer 1 and layer 2 network devices. Perform trend analysis on circuits, network devices and server infrastructure and will use a ticketing system to report network outages to local work centers and track status of the outage until restoration has occurred.
Will also design and install new cabling, equipment, and associated hardware and software to extend and/or enhance existing services. Monitor statuses and alert systems necessary to provide real time network availability to include remote applications and hardware necessary to monitor and communicate with remote sites as required.
Will also provide end-to-end support equipment and services, including instrument placement, infrastructure and other required services to provide telecommunications related connectivity within and external to the customer.
This position is located in Washington DC. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Washington DC or surrounding areas.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
High school diploma and a minimum of 12 years of direct experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation, and support
Current SSBI/T5 adjudicated within the past three years (must be able to pass additional access screenings)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
Security certification in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction
Experience with Synchronous Optical Networks (SONET)

Routing and switching experience
IP network experience

Job Description:

We are seeking one contract resource for the role of Networking Specialist. This position will assist our client with server hardware health checks, deployment, and installation.

Responsibilities:

  • Racking mounting of server and networking equipment.
  • Cabling and labeling of data and electronic cables and devices.
  • Utilizing VMware vSphere, VMware Center, and related tools to configure and migrate virtual machines.
  • Packing and preparing decommissioned equipment for return, surplus, or shipment.
  • Configurating and preparing server and network equipment for deployment.
  • Deploying hardware to various locations statewide.
  • Confirming device connection.
  • Photographing installation configuration.
  • Administering site survey for future hardware deployment.
  • Resolving issues on site should any arise during installation/deployment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Over two years in any of the following areas: Information Technology, Installation Technician, Helpdesk - Tier 1+, Network Operations Center Technician
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot defective equipment.
  • Determine and resolve hardware issues prior to deployment.
  • Possess network room knowledge and experience.
Attributes:
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Effective analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills (reporting issues).
  • Effective record-keeping skills (i.e., installers will record serial number, model number, courthouse, street address, county, network room number/locator).
  • Ability to follow directions and provide instructions as needed.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements:
  • 8:00am-5:00pm EDT Monday through Friday
  • Occasional travel between training locations is potentially required.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time required.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds, operate hand truck and pallet jack in a warehouse environment.

We are hiring for a large-scale deployment focused on fiber mesh cabling infrastructure. This initiative requires 30 experienced Networking
Technicians, including 24 Level 4 Technicians and 6 Level 5 Leads. This is not a Greenfield role-our systems, procedures, and schedules are already in place. We are looking for professionals who can step in immediately, follow established workflows, and contribute to continuous improvement with precision and reliability.
? Note: This role is strictly focused on validating Level 1 physical cabling. There is no scripting, configuration, or logical network setup involved.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of fiber optic cabling, splicing, and testing.
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards and physical layer validation.
- Ability to follow and improve upon existing SOPs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in Greenfield deployments (though not required for this role).
- Familiarity with network documentation tools or cable management systems.
- Ability to contribute to hiring matrices and team scaling discussions.
