Technical Lead, Software Development Overview:

The Technical Lead, Software Development is responsible for ensuring that the development team has appropriate technical direction and guidance to ensure success. They provide technical oversight for development efforts, ensuring outcomes that align to commercial , operational, and technical expectations. They work in advance of the development roadmap conducting technical investigations for upcoming projects, documenting approach, design and associated application changes. Acting as an agent of collaboration and innovation within the development team and Information Technology division is a key attribute of this position. This role also involves hands-on development as needed, leading code review, mentoring of the development team, and ensuring alignment with project outcomes and timelines.

  • Adhere to and promote best practices, coding standards, and security policies.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies supporting the software development lifecycle.
  • Remain current with the latest Sun Country IT system/services/applications information, changes, and updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with demonstrated leadership skills and progressively increasing responsibilities, including but not limited to roles such as development lead.
  • Proficiency in technical stack defined for job area. Will vary for Commercial IT, Operational IT or Analytics and will be elaborated for specific job postings.
  • 5+ years with cloud computing platforms
  • Expertise with CI/CD, version control systems, testing frameworks and/or testing best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct technical investigations
  • Experience leading projects from start to finish
  • Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical approaches and designs
  • Experience collaborating with architects and developing design patterns
  • Experience mentoring or supervising others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and a self-motivated attitude, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Highly detail-oriented

Compensation:

$120,000.00-140,000.00. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Software Development Technical Leader (Tech Lead) with expertise in C and C++ to lead one of our development teams in crafting high-performance software solutions.   • Proven experience in designing and implementing complex software architectures and systems. The ability to identify, analyze, develop architecture drivers, tradeoffs, and extensibility is a must.
  • Proficiency in the C, C++ software development languages.
  • Proficiency in Python for developing analytics and analyzing data.
  • Experience with developing embedded software, performance tests and interpreting the results.
  • Experience with static analysis tools and techniques for improving code quality and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead development projects and engage with customers technically.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to work with members of the US Military and other customers to achieve mission success.
  • Willingness to be in the office 3 days or more per week; Job location will be in Pittsburgh at the SEI offices.
  • Flexible to travel to other SEI offices, sponsor sites, conferences, and offsite meetings on occasion. Moderate (25%) travel outside of your home location.
  • You will be subject to a background investigation and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
