An established construction company in Woodland Hills is looking for a Virtual Design & Construction Engineer.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The VDC Engineer is responsible for virtual construction needs in Preconstruction, Construction Operations, and Consulting/Litigation Support Services departments. The VDC Engineer is a power-user of all of our VDC software programs. The position requires a self-motivated, open-minded, and dedicated individual who is willing to take on new challenges.
The VDC Engineer is based in Woodland Hills, CA, but travels to jobsites and partner offices as needed and may work out of jobsites as required. The position reports to the Virtual Design & Construction Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and coordinate 3D object-oriented models.
- Create 5D visual simulations incorporating BIM+TIME+COST using Navisworks or Synchro.
- Perform clash detections.
- Perform 3D scanning using Trimble 3D scanner and Layout of work using Trimble Robotic Total Station.
- Process actual job cost, model-based quantity report, model-based quantity take-off and actual schedule information back into the model for as-built project control, risk analysis, and historical reference.
- Create Formwork and concrete lift and placement drawings for horizontal and vertical control and general assembly drawings.
- Support Preconstruction and Business Development efforts as requested by creating photorealistic imagery using Artlantis and other rendering engines.
- Perform project document management (RFIs, submittals and PCOs, NOC, etc.).
- Process raw 3D point cloud scan files in software suites such as Trimble REALWORKS, Scene, Rythm or similar software and produce registered files.
- Produce as-built models based on the scan files using Trimble REALWORKS or similar software and/or TEKLA Structures.
- Convert and correct building model files or 3D scanned point clouds as needed to create rapid prototype 3D printable objects using Materialise Magics and SpaceClaim.
- Perform completeness and constructability reviews under supervision and issue and manage RFIs.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction related field or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years in building or design industry preferred, but not required.
- Understanding concepts of VDC or BIM.
- Exposure to and preliminary experience with some Building Information Model (BIM) systems (i.e. Autodesk Revit, Bentley, Vico Constructor, TEKLA, Synchro, Navisworks, Sketchup, and similar software suites) required.
- Excellent computer skills, including high level of proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam.
- Strong personal management skills, dedication, organization, and open-mindedness required.
- Creative thinker with ability to work in a close-knit environment.
- Other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.

The Construction Design & Delivery team is at the core of Relativity’s growth and development. Through our collaboration and expertise, we deliver projects that lay the foundation for Relativity’s future success. In essence, ‘we build the factory that builds the rockets! We are responsible for cross functional relationships with teams such as Manufacturing, Propulsion, PBF, Avionics, Machine Shop, Facilities, EHS and Security to name a few, working through design specifications and execution of critical infrastructure projects that supports the mission of work centers. - Lead end-to-end infrastructure project design at the Wormhole factory—from concept development through permit issuance and construction handoff
- Translate operational requirements into buildable, code-compliant design packages across architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil disciplines
- Serve as the central point of coordination for stakeholder engagement, consultant management, and cross-functional design integration
- Drive development of work center layouts in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers and CAD teams to meet equipment, utility, and compliance needs
- Manage design-phase budgets, soft cost estimates, and change tracking in partnership with project controls and estimating teams
- Provide construction administration support including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site walks, and punchlist validation to ensure design intent is maintained
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience leading capital or infrastructure projects through design, permitting, and construction phases
- Strong knowledge of building codes, fire/life safety, Title 24, and permitting requirements
- Proven ability to manage consultant deliverables, coordinate interdisciplinary design reviews, and facilitate stakeholder alignment
- Proficiency in reviewing construction documents, redlines, and QA/QC deliverables for scope clarity and constructability
- Organized communicator skilled at producing clear meeting notes, action trackers, and handoff packages for execution teams

Under general direction of the Construction Office Chief, the incumbent serves as a Construction Engineer; and/or as a Resident Engineer on a complex project (or group of projects) requiring a large staff to monitor the contractor's operations. Directing the processing of payment to contractors and change orders; responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the difficult engineering and administrative tasks of the District Construction Field Office. Dewberry is currently seeking a Construction Engineer for work in the Denver CO/Northern CO area. The position will perform a variety of investigation, design and construction related work in support of small and large infrastructure projects. The Construction Engineer will perform such tasks as construction document management, construction inspection, collecting field data needed to progress pay applications, establishing quantity and cost estimates. The CE must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of construction managers.
Candidates will be required to spend much of their time on construction sites.

Responsibilities- Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, provisions, and specifications
- Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with the prime contractor and other agencies
- Perform routine inspections on traffic control, stormwater management, and project compliance
- Proactive in identifying field issues and discuss solutions with supervisor
- Collaborative approach to working in a team that includes the owner and contractor
- Prepare and process construction records, including RFI's, submittals, field measurements for progress pay applications, extra work billings, and contract change orders
- Document all field activities while working in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor
- Project schedule adherence and use of Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project or equivalent
- Weekly OAC meetings, meeting minutes, and documentation
- Weekly and monthly project reporting
- Punchlist management, warranty review, and project closeout
- Work in a very timely fashion to meet project requirements
- Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and agency review staff. Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- 3+ years of experience in Construction Management and Project Administration
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering or Related field required
- Experience in Microsoft office is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Ability to communicate with clients and the public and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or clients
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Must be able to work in a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
- Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
