The University of Iowa Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking candidates for Joint Replacement Surgery faculty position. Appointment rank may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

Education Requirement:
  • The candidate must hold an MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited or recognized medical or osteopathic school.
  • The candidate must have graduated from a fully accredited orthopedic residency.
  • The candidate must have completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement.


Required Qualifications:
  • The candidate must be eligible for and successfully obtain an Iowa medical license prior to commencement.


Certifications:
  • The candidate must be a Board-certified or Board-eligible orthopedic surgeon.

This unit has earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ for health care quality from the Joint Commission. We were awarded Disease-Specific Care Certification for knee and hip replacement. The Joint Replacement unit also holds the Blue Distinction center for hip and knee replacements. This unit performs the highest volume of joint replacement surgeries in the Rochester area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).

  • Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

  • Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.

  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.

  • Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.

  • Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States. Compliance

  • Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.

  • Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.

  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

St. Luke's Health System is seeking a BC/BE orthopedic surgeon with interest in total joint replacement to join our team in Twin Falls, Idaho. It offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient surgery, a 24-hour emergency department, advanced cancer center, inpatient rehabilitation, and advanced imaging and lab services.

Job Summary
An orthopedic surgeon is trained in the preservation, investigation and restoration of the form and function of the extremities, spine and associated structures by medical, surgical and physical means. An orthopedic surgeon is involved with the care of patients whose musculoskeletal problems include congenital deformities, trauma, infections, tumors, metabolic disturbances of the musculoskeletal system, deformities, injuries and degenerative diseases of the spine, hands, feet, knees, hips, shoulders and elbows in children and adults. An orthopedic surgeon is also concerned with primary and secondary muscular problems and the effects of central or peripheral nervous system lesions of the musculoskeletal system.
Job Duties
+ Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
+ Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
