Principal Accountabilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently
- Apply strong problem-solving and programming troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
- Ensure reliability of manufacturing processes and compliance with standards
- Perform preventative and annual maintenance on equipment
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control schematics
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Identify, plan, and execute follow-up maintenance work
- Prepare and maintain safe, organized work environments
- Respond to unplanned maintenance needs as directed
- Accurately complete and document work orders and maintenance records

Required Qualifications
- Electrical/Maintenance Journeyman License in the state of Michigan
- 3 years manufacturing maintenance experience
- Basic programming and advanced troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
- High School or GED Equivalent
- Be able to troubleshoot PLCs and Ladder logic
- Be willing to be a part of the Hazmat team
- Strong electrical & mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read & interpret blueprints or other forms of engineering drawings
- Ability to read & interpret detail blueprints, P&IDs, single-lines, and wiring schematics
- Ability to work weekend and off shift hours as needed

The Journeyperson electrician performs installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial electrical industry.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all electrical tasks with limited supervision.
- Read and accurately interpret electrical construction drawings.
- Terminate cables, install, and troubleshoot control wiring from schematics.
- Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.
- Maintain a Journeyman license in states and locales where required, and all training requirements.
- Continuously satisfy all previous classification requirements.
- Analyze blueprints effectively and utilize such information on the job site.
- Install, maintain, and/or troubleshoot basic electrical systems in compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Demonstrate the ability to layout conduit systems, various lighting systems, basic control systems, and feeders.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and related safety functions.

General Description
+ Installs, maintains and repairs electrical circuits, electrical test equipment, special electrical devices, electric motors, manufacturing equipment, etc.
+ Depending on work location, scope is either construction/utility based or supports manufacturing equipment and processes.
General Requirements
+ Diagnoses, services and adjusts all types of machine tools and automation (including robots) required to manufacture transmission components, primarily PLC/CNC based.
+ May perform troubleshooting duties to detect cause of malfunction of electrical circuits and computer-controlled circuits or equipment and makes corrections.
+ Install, maintain, and repair machinery power circuits, building lighting circuits, electronically controlled circuits, circuit boards, electrical test equipment, special electrical devices, etc.
+ May install, adjust, calibrate, disassemble, clean, repair and reassemble a variety of electrical instruments, such as: timing devices, profilometers, comparators, indicators, pressure and flow gages, relays, thermostats, gear checking machines, torque wrenches, micrometers, recording instruments, and all other electrical equipment of a similar nature.
+ Uses a variety of test instruments, such as ammeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, megohmmeters, etc.
+ Lay out, fabricate, and install conduit, wire control panels, install bus bars, connect and disconnect wiring of machine tools, etc.
+ May handle parts, gages, and their components manually or with the aid of material handling equipment and works with delicate instruments which require extreme care.
+ Works from complex schematic and wiring diagrams, written and verbal instructions.
+ Knowledge and understanding of current electrical code.
+ Works within the computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) completing work orders, documenting work performed and requisitioning parts.
+ Performs any duties incidental to the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment.
+ Basic hand and power tools are to be supplied by candidate.
+ Must be able to work independently or in team environment.
+ May be required to train fellow tradespeople.
Required Qualifications
+ Journeyperson must have completed a formal apprenticeship OR have 8 years of equivalent experience.
+ Journeyperson In Training (JIT), must have 70% of the full skillset, typically at least 5 years' experience.
+ Must have knowledge of shop math and be able to read, interpret and work from blueprints.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Troubleshooting experience, especially on PLC/CNC control systems.
+ Ability to utilize laptop or other advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot equipment.
+ Veterans with MOS experience maintaining and repairing complex control systems are strongly encouraged to apply.
Working Conditions and Hazards
+ May be required to work with high voltage electricity.
+ May be required to work in cramped positions or from ladders, in oils and greases, etc.
+ Must be able to pass the industrial vehicle physical examination.
