This position is responsible for the shared leadership of the mills' electrical maintenance program, including the electrical apprentice program and serves as the technical focal point for electrical, PM, design and installation. Demonstrate a willingness and ability to act promptly to meet mill needs in an environment where safety is always the lead consideration before performing any task.

Relocation assistance may be available for this position.

Flexible Day Shift (40-hour work week)

Key Functions :

  • Accountable for personal safety and for improving the safety of the facility including the safety of contractors working on the mill site.
  • Assist all plant departments and external suppliers to specify, design and develop improvements in the site processes and methods. Lead and/or support project task teams to achieve plant objectives in a safe and timely manner. Provide coaching and guidance to mill team members to support continuous improvement in our high-performance culture.
  • Serve as a liaison on electrical systems implementation. Assist with Operator/Technician training & documentation maintenance. Provide troubleshooting support plant wide. Provide electrical system design, standards, technical documentation and drawings.
  • The position calls for the ability to work evenings and weekends to support systems as required. The successful candidate will have the ability to coordinate and prioritize changing priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment, the capability to meet deadlines, the skill to understand complex systems, along with the proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong work experience in all areas of electrical including power distribution, conduit/wiring and installation.
  • Ability to coordinate and track electrical contractors working on site.
Qualifications:

Requirements :

  • A Michigan Journeyman's license or a reciprocal license is required
  • Experience in electrical safety tools and practices.
  • High competence in electrical code including NEC and NFPA70 E.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are desired along with the demonstrated ability to take initiative and work as a part of the Maintenance and ICE team.
  • Must have good working knowledge of mathematics, reading comprehension skills of technical and nontechnical materials.
  • Must have good working knowledge and experience in continuous process manufacturing, industrial maintenance, and preventive maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work independently as a project leader and as a part of a multidisciplined team.
  • Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through. Willingness to work flexible hours to include nights and weekends should operating conditions require; however, this position targets a five days/week schedule.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of working in an industrial environment, such as climbing stairs and working in extreme heat & cold as needed.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years in an industrial electrical role, in a manufacturing environment.

Principal Accountabilities 

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently
  • Apply strong problem-solving and programming troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
  • Ensure reliability of manufacturing processes and compliance with standards
  • Perform preventative and annual maintenance on equipment
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control schematics
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Identify, plan, and execute follow-up maintenance work
  • Prepare and maintain safe, organized work environments
  • Respond to unplanned maintenance needs as directed
  • Accurately complete and document work orders and maintenance records
  • Communicate maintenance updates through written pass-downs
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electronic controls and instrumentation
  • Use diagnostic tools (e.g., oscilloscope, VOM) to test and repair systems


Required Qualifications 

  • Electrical/Maintenance Journeyman License in the state of Michigan
  • 3 years manufacturing maintenance experience
  • Basic programming and advanced troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Be able to troubleshoot PLCs and Ladder logic
  • Be willing to be a part of the Hazmat team
  • Strong electrical & mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read & interpret blueprints or other forms of engineering drawings
  • Ability to read & interpret detail blueprints, P&IDs, single-lines, and wiring schematics
  • Ability to work weekend and off shift hours as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn SAP/PPE systems
  • Allen-Bradley programming and troubleshooting experience
  • Maintenance experience in a food processing environment
  • Proficient with test/calibration tools (RTD calibrators, multimeters, etc.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot 480 VAC 3-phase, 120 VAC, and 24VDC circuits
