SHIFT ORE - Shift 1 ($0) (United States of America - Oregon) A BRIEF OVERVIEW Under direction, the Journeyman Electrician is responsible for trouble shooting and repairing electrical systems, apparatus and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment per electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and/or other specifications. The Journeyman Electrician will maintain, repair, and replace as necessary electrical wiring, equipment, and electrical products. Journeyman Electrician will ensure electrical systems are constructed and maintained to NEC and State of Oregon code and will ensure that all electrical installations meet minimum OSHA safety standards. WHAT YOU WILL DO Requests permits from Signing Supervising electrician if not licensed prior to requesting an inspection. This is a requirement under Oregon Administrative Rule (Electrical Permits). Respond to off shift calls and ability to work weekends and holidays as needed. Completes all required training. Uses hand tools and testing instruments to diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components and isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures. Mounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications. Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes. Coordinates all electrical inspections, annual or as needed. Estimates time and material costs on electrical projects Requisitions new electrical supplies and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance as per established schedule in CMMS and maintain accurate records in the CMMS. Maintain parts and service materials inventory. Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition. Maintain and support PLC/Automated controls. Maintain and support data cabling, server rack equipment, and distribution points. Ensures that all electrical installations meet minimum safety standards of The National Electrical Code Ensures that corrections issued by the inspecting jurisdiction will be completed in a timely manner Responsible for ensuring that proper permits and/or labels are obtained and properly and visibly posted. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group Provides guidance on complex electrical issues Directs, supervises, makes, controls, and services all installations, maintenance, replacement and repair of electrical wiring, electrical equipment and circuits, controls and other electrical products. This includes direct or indirect supervision of all licensed electricians and apprentices employed at the plant. Plans and designs layout electrical installations either new or modifications in conjunction with plant engineering Ensures that persons performing electrical installations and work are properly licensed Advocates for the health and safety of self, co-workers, customers, and the community. Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS). - Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues independently
- Apply strong problem-solving and programming troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
- Ensure reliability of manufacturing processes and compliance with standards
- Perform preventative and annual maintenance on equipment
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control schematics
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Identify, plan, and execute follow-up maintenance work
- Prepare and maintain safe, organized work environments
- Respond to unplanned maintenance needs as directed
- Accurately complete and document work orders and maintenance records
- Communicate maintenance updates through written pass-downs
- Maintain and troubleshoot electronic controls and instrumentation
- Use diagnostic tools (e.g., oscilloscope, VOM) to test and repair systems
- Electrical/Maintenance Journeyman License in the state of Michigan
- 3 years manufacturing maintenance experience
- Basic programming and advanced troubleshooting skills, preferably with Allen-Bradley
- High School or GED Equivalent
- Be able to troubleshoot PLCs and Ladder logic
- Be willing to be a part of the Hazmat team
- Strong electrical & mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read & interpret blueprints or other forms of engineering drawings
- Ability to read & interpret detail blueprints, P&IDs, single-lines, and wiring schematics
- Ability to work weekend and off shift hours as needed
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn SAP/PPE systems
- Allen-Bradley programming and troubleshooting experience
- Maintenance experience in a food processing environment
- Proficient with test/calibration tools (RTD calibrators, multimeters, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot 480 VAC 3-phase, 120 VAC, and 24VDC circuits
