Primary:

  • Conduct and meticulously document research, investigate and monitor extremist movements, groups and individuals and related activity through primary and secondary public sources.

  • Provide briefings and expert analysis about extremist-related activities and Center on Extremism work in general to both law enforcement, donors, media and other public audiences.

  • Support regional offices in ADL's Southern Division by providing information, guidance and assistance.

UX Researcher Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with product teams to identify research topics.

  2. Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes.

  3. Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs.

  4. Conduct research to accomplish team goals, using a wide variety of qualitative methods and quantitative methods, including 1:1 interviews, focus groups, diary studies, field studies, usability tests, and surveys.

  5. Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders across design, product or program management, content design, data science, engineering and marketing.

  6. Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways.

  7. Embed with a product or program team to conduct applied research to understand users' behaviors, motivations and attitudes on using the products or services.

  8. Perform regular qualitative research using a variety of methods to influence organizational strategy, product direction, and feature development.

  9. Analyze user data through a variety of qualitative and quantitative channels including thematic analysis, persona development, journey mapping, and surveys.

  10. Telecommute from anywhere in the US permitted.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering, Anthropology or related field and two years of work experience in job offered or in a user experience research-related occupation.

  2. Requires two years of experience in the following:

    1. Handling complex information and adapting to a changing environment
    1. Taking product questions and translating them into actionable research plans including logical formulation of research hypotheses
    1. Instrument drafting and design involving structure, length, logic, question types, and best practices
    1. Managing research operations processes including participant recruitment, vendor coordination, and resource management
    1. Collecting and analyzing user insights through diary studies, field studies, surveys, 1:1 interviews, focus groups and usability studies
    1. Communicating research results to cross-functional stakeholders with data storytelling, presentation slides, and product and design recommendations
    1. Translating and advocating the implementation of research findings and user insights at the team and organizational levels
    1. Leveraging research insights to inform organizational strategy, product direction and feature development

  • This Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of virtual and augmented reality, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. Just as personal computers have done over the past 45 years, AR and VR will ultimately change everything about how we work, play, and connect. We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets, including optics and displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, brain-computer interfaces, haptic interaction, eye/hand/face/body tracking, perception science, and true telepresence. In particular, the Research Audio team is focused on two goals; creating virtual sounds that are perceptually indistinguishable from reality, and redefining human hearing.
  • These two initiatives will allow us to connect people by allowing them to feel together despite being physically apart and allow them to converse in even the most difficult listening environments. We are seeking a contract UX Researcher to help us advance an ambitious research project aiming to develop technologies that will augment human capabilities and enable effortless communication in acoustically challenging environments.

Responsibilities :
The main function of a UX Researcher is to conduct research studies with human subjects. The UXR is responsible for the set-up, implementation and data collection for in-person and remote studies. This is a senior-level UXR position with increased responsibility for driving research studies, including owning experimental design, conducting user studies and collecting data, analyzing data, and creating reports with findings and recommendations for the research and product teams.

Skill Requirements:
  • 3+ years of industry experience with qualitative and quantitative research
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters or higher education preferred. Course work or lab experience in the following sub-areas: speech perception/production, psycholinguistics, hearing science, language-focused cognitive psychology, auditory neuroscience, social science, psychology, and similar.
  • Experience with hardware products preferrably consumer electronics or wearable devices.
  • Human-subject research experience
  • Experience with data analysis and programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL is a plus
