Job Title: Food Service Kitchen Technician
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency;
- Trade or vocational school training;
- Four years experience with the servicing and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment;
- Two years as a Journeyman Gas Fitter (License JG) or Journeyman Refrigeration (JR) or must be willing to obtain the JG or JR license within one (1) year of employment;
- Must possess an EPA refrigerant recovery certificate;
- Current New Mexico Drivers License with insurable driving record;
- Must be able to read electrical and mechanical schematics specifications; and
- Must be able to perform work in a manner that satisfies requirements established in regulations and standards governing electrical work.
- Mechanical knowledge and experience;
- Basic refrigeration experience with refrigerants and specifically with R22, 404A, and R134A. (Commercial freezers and refrigerators R22, 404A) (R134A for residential refrigerators);
- Basic electrical experience with 120v/208 single and three phase and 460 three phase electricity, including troubleshooting. Single and three phase and solid state;
- Basic experience with plumbing including knowledge of water valves, piping, circulating pumps, and pressure relief valves;
- Knowledge of and ability to access respective building codes and kitchen and food regulations;
- Develop scopes of work, coordinate and oversee contractors performing work on kitchen equipment and
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams and construction drawings; to make cost estimates of time and materials; to function as a consultant and/or inspector in areas of specialization.
- Performs maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment in school cafeterias;
- Must troubleshoot problems and make repairs in a timely basis to insure that cafeterias remain operational;
- Performs shutdown and start up of kitchen equipment during summer breaks in order to reduce the use of energy in the schools;
- Services walk-in refrigerators, walk-in freezers, milk coolers, pizza ovens, commercial stoves, booster heaters, steamers, warmers, and dish machines;
- Services small kitchen appliances including microwaves, mixers, toaster ovens, and refrigerators;
- Services and maintains dish machines including the wash system, conveyor system, operating temperature and pressures;
- Services and maintains and cleans ice machines maintains production and harvest cycle of units;
- Services and maintains kitchen exhaust systems including belt replacement;
- May be called on to assist HVAC Technicians with seasonal change over duties;
- Makes entries into RRPS ticketing system and reviews, completes, and closes tickets;
- Collaborates with other Kitchen Technicians, specifically from the Facilities/Maintenance Department, to troubleshoot equipment and find resolutions to issues;
- Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
- Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.
- Supervisor may assign additional work hours;
- Employee performs On-Call and Call-Back duties as assigned;
- Employee is required to perform Emergency Call-Back; and
- Salary and work year as per adopted Rio Rancho Public Schools Staff Salary Schedule.

**Job Summary**
This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks which includes preparation, service, clean-up and delivery of food products in support of hospital food and catering service operations using HACCP guidelines for safe food handling.
**Essential Functions**
+ Prepare, mix, assemble, portion, serve and store food following applicable guidelines.
+ Operate dish machine, wash pots and perform heavy cleaning duties following safety and sanitation guidelines.
+ Transport equipment, food, supplies and trash as directed.
+ May act as cafeteria cashier/running the cash register
