Job Description
Marquee Brands is a fast growing and dynamic consumer focused PE fund with offices in New York and LA currently seeking a talented Program Associate with a passion for investing and a deep understanding of consumer brands and services. Marquee Brands sits within Neuberger Berman, a 75 year old global investment firm with $515bn of AUM, including $40bn within Private Equity and 208bn within Private Credit.
Marquee Brands is dedicated to acquiring high quality consumer brands with proven heritage and resonance. Marquee seeks to create a diversified portfolio, which currently consists of 19 brands spanning fashion, active & outdoor, and home & culinary and includes some of the most well-known names in each space, such as Martha Stewart, Sur La Table, America's Test Kitchen, BCBG, Ben Sherman and Dakine. Marquee Brands also has a significant media capability, creating long form linear TV content, short form video, books, magazines and digital subscription products for its brand portfolio.
Marquee is looking for a Program Associate to join the investment team and contribute to all aspects of the investment process in addition to working with Marquee's operational team on business development and high priority strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for consumer investing, whether that's in consumer brands or consumer services, and be eager to hone their investment analysis and transaction execution abilities. The ability to think analytically is a must but the ability to think creatively is also highly valued and no voice or idea is too small to be heard. This will be a highly dynamic role; the Program Associate may be modeling investment returns one day and negotiating product vendor pricing the next. Additionally, while Marquee sits within Neuberger Berman and has access to the vast research and investment resources of the platform, the core Marquee team is small and tight-knit and Program Associates will receive significant direct interaction with senior professionals. Finally, NB Private Equity is a highly entrepreneurial environment where employees are often empowered to think outside the box and develop new investment strategies. The Marquee Brands team is actively engaged in developing new fund strategies and Program Associates will have the opportunity to participate and contribute to this.
Currently, the hybrid work schedule for this position is 4 days in the office. Please understand that the hybrid schedule may be modified or eliminated at any time at Neuberger Berman's discretion.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Analyzing and conducting comprehensive due diligence on potential investments across various sectors of the consumer brands and services landscape
+ Performing in-depth analysis and market research on different sectors of consumer products
+ Financial modeling, scenario analysis and returns analysis on potential brand investment opportunities
+ Preparation of due diligence materials, analysis and investment committee memos
+ Assistance with raising debt financing in the bank and broadly syndicated loan markets in support of M&A and other business development initiatives
+ Assistance in drafting of acquisition documents (term sheets, asset purchase agreements, license agreements, etc.)
+ Ongoing monitoring of existing investments
+ Supporting the operations team on high-priority strategic initiatives and new business development
+ Preparing fundraising materials and assisting with existing client requests
+ Conducting special projects including development of new investment products and strategies
**Experience & Skills Qualifications:**
+ Must have excellent academic credentials (both undergraduate school and GPA)
+ Must have 1-4 years of top-tier investment banking program experience
+ Ideally will have prior experience with consumer brands, consumer services and multi-unit concepts, but not a must
+ Must have exceptional quantitative and financial modeling skills
+ Must have strong judgment, critical thinking and written skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form
+ Must show initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving; demonstrated experience in conducting research and interacting with others to develop solutions
+ Must have ability to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detail
+ Must have team-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects
+ Must be highly organized and capable of managing multiple internal and external work streams concurrently
+ Open to positions in New York
