Your Role:
As a Lab Manager you will lead daily lab operations in our inorganic & analytical chemistry laboratory. **How You'll Create Impact**
+ Overall responsibility for the scheduling, maintenance and cost-effective utilization of all lab facilities and offsite temporary lab setups.
+ Working with P28 management, manages lab calendars to ensure availability as needed and post in public forum for all P28 employees to access
+ Works closely with Manager of Medical Education and VP of Downstream Marketing to enlist and coordinate additional lab assistance from marketing and sales
+ Manages both on-site and off-site courses to include site checking facility for appropriate space for lab activities, ordering all supplies for lab PPE, Cadavers, tables/risers, lighting, visqueen, and AV set up as necessary; ensures all purchasing protocols are followed and monitors invoicing
+ Assists with budget creation and responsible for ensuring adherence to final budget
+ Negotiates best pricing for rental c-arms and technicians for respective development labs and training as needed
+ Establishes relationships with external vendors to maintain the working condition of the lab equipment, including but not limited to, c-arms, power sets and attachments, overhead lights, etc.
+ Conducts periodic reviews of vendor pricing and performance
+ Manages all required laboratory tools, hardware, and tissue specimens for onsite cadaveric courses
+ Manages cadaveric specimens used in the P28 Lab, including ordering, preparation, inventorying, and appropriate handling of used tissue in accordance with specimen provider, OSHA, and Paragon 28 protocols
+ Procures CT scanned specimens for all labs that require Maven and Patient Specific instrumentation
+ Ensures inventory of P28 Lab surgical instruments, personal protective gear, and lab supplies are available and prepared for use; orders and restocks supplies as needed; set appropriate par levels
+ Creates and maintains logbook of all specimens for courses, event and projects to ensure judicious use
+ Cleans and sterilizes P28 Lab and associated cadaveric tools, equipment/product trays used in on and offsite trainings according to OSHA standards for restocking
+ Sets up lab by arranging and staging/restaging tables and cleaning up post-course; secures loaner equipment when necessary
+ Provide Paragon 28 staff and course attendees with bloodborne pathogen and lab safety training and ensures waiver forms are completed and filed for all lab attendees prior to lab activity.
+ During all lab experiences, ensures participants adhere to proper safety and personal protective equipment protocols
+ Reviews lab processes and provides recommendations for modifications which improve quality, costs and service
+ Develops and updates procedures/policies and associated training when necessary
+ Complete preventative maintenance to ensure training center equipment is regularly and properly serviced in accordance with vendor instructions and schedule
+ Assists in mock surgical procedures as needed to help Clinical Affairs, Development, and Marketing teams as needed.
+ Travel to provide off-site events, including AAOS, ACFAS and AOFAS conferences, to support to the Medical Education, Events, and Clinical Affairs team as needed.
+ Work with Facilities Coordinator to ensure upkeep on the lab space, submitting work orders as needed to ensure optimal performance.

**Your Background**
+ B.S. degree preferred, scientific field helpful
+ Five or more years' cadaver lab experience or experience in event logistics, project coordination or similar required.

**Job Summary**
The Manager of Lab supervises technical and support staff and oversees daily Laboratory operations. This includes ensuring regulatory requirements are met and monitoring test systems. The Manager also supervises staff activities, work assignments, hiring, termination, performance reviews, orientation, and professional development.
**Essential Functions of the Role**
+ Manages the daily functions of the laboratory to ensure efficiency. Performs all delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director.
+ Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel including the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees.
+ Ensures staff has the training, experience, and skills needed for their duties by coordinating education, in-services, and orientations.
+ Maintains appropriate personnel and patient records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
+ Assist with budgeting. Provide information about supplies, personnel, and equipment. Seek cost containment avenues. Plan long-term purchases or capital equipment.
+ Establishes and implements quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies.
+ Ensures the review of all quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records, and any associated corrective action.
+ Provides input/support in the selection/purchase of capital equipment and the development of yearly budgets.

**Job Responsibilities**
+ Direct the daily operational activities of the General Lab ; both the technical and non-technical operations
+ Effectively manage the staffing of the department and monitor the production schedule to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime, and adjust as needed

Responsible for making sure that all laboratory work performed meets or exceeds the minimum requirements set forth in the quality manual and the test procedure.
Responsible for making sure that laboratory has the appropriate resources in place to execute testing per applicable standards. This includes but is not limited to acquiring and maintaining equipment, cross training, preparing and reviewing lab reports, client coordination, resolving conflicts, coordination with other departments and administrative requirements.
Preferred Key Criteria/Requirements:
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Good skills in math and communications.
Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples up to 50lbs as a routine part of the job.
Has the ability to self-supervise and manage multiple employees (laboratory staff)
10+ years Construction Materials or Geotechnical Testing experience with min 5 years experience as Laboratory Manager or Supervisor.
Must possess or ability to obtain within six month all relevant TXDOT certification including but not limited to SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, AGG101, level 2, ACI Strength, ACI Field, Level 1A.
Advanced Geotechnical testing such as CUs, UUs, Tri-axials is a plus
Ability to work overtime hours
Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
Ability to use a computer and familiar with Microsoft environment (advance levels a plus)
Ability to work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to meet the expectation of working 45 hours a week to accomplish job responsibilities.
