Role: Assists in effort to have students operate all equipment in a safe manner. Assist in maintenance of all equipment at the Glass Education Center (GEC) and instructs in its proper use.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

* Oversee the Glass Education Center as assigned by the Glass Studio Specialist.
* Ensure the continued adherence by students to the rules and procedures of the GEC including health and safety protocol.
* Oversee students during open lab time as assigned by the Glass Studio Specialist.
* Assist with minor care and maintenance of the studio/lab equipment, primarily lighting and shutting down the studio areas before or after open lab time.
* Report any health and safety issues, equipment issues, student issues and/or injuries to the Coordinator of GEC and/or Security.
* Other duties as assigned by the Glass Studio Specialist.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience High school diploma required. Associate's degree preferred. Can not be a current SCC student.

Education Two or more years of experience in the glass field.

Interpersonal Skills Ability to community and work effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and the general public.

Technical Skills Basic hot shop, cold shop and flame working knowledge. Working knowledge of equipment and materials associated with the creation of glass items for creative and scientific purposes.

Other Skills Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the safety rules and procedures, as well as the specific rules for each studio/lab area.

An open and flexible attitude and understand their schedule is subject to change based on the Glass Education Center schedule.

Physical Requirements Able to stand or walk for long periods of time and lift, move and carry heavy objects.

Able to work near and around hot equipment bending and crouching.

Work Environment Regular exposure to potentially dangerous conditions such as those found in a facility producing scientific glass and glass art items.

**Job Summary**
The Operations Specialist - Animal Logistics is responsible for the management of oversight of animal colonies, which includes assignment of study reservations, monitoring of census levels, and coordination of routine animal monitoring.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Responsible for the assignment of reservations against animals held in stock colony.
+ Responsible for ensuring census levels are maintained at a suitable level which supports study demand.
+ Communicates census needs or challenges with line management in a timely manner.
+ Works creatively and collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure efficient and optimal use of stock animals.
+ Keeps clear and precise records at all times to ensure that stock animals are used appropriately, especially with consideration of washout periods.
+ Works to coordinate the acclimation/habituation of all animals for appropriate study use.
+ Tracks use of stock animals such that they are used for an appropriate period of time and offers recommendations for retirement as necessary.
+ High degree of computer competency (e.g., Smartsheet, PowerBI, Laboratory Information Management System).
+ Responsible for all record keeping associated with stock animals.
+ Ensures all records are maintained in a detailed and organized fashion such that they are inspection/client ready at any time.
+ Ensures all stock animals are maintained for health and habituation needs to ensure prompt assignment to study.
+ Is capable of collaborating with multiple stakeholders and troubleshoot through complex scheduling demands.
+ Review documentation of functions performed as part of colony management.
+ Act as a back up to for departmental scheduling, inclusive of training for staff
+ Support inter-site scheduling needs.
+ Coordinate and prepare animal arrival.

**Job Qualifications**
+ Education: High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.), required. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in biological science, preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum 2 years of applicable CRO experience in in-vivo operations or census/inventory management.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
