Summary:

Direct Lab to drive retail sales through the supervision and performance of lab operations to keep within our core value of Quality-- by producing eyewear that is accurate to prescription, ready as promised, and meets our "7 Point Quality Verification", ANSI and company tolerance standards.

Pay class: Full Time
Pay:
$16.78 - $22.23 per hour

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Routinely verify that all options purchased by the customer are delivered as promised.

2. Assist in recruiting, selecting and training of all lab associates on lab equipment and Lab Certification Program techniques as they progress through required certification steps.

3. Ensure and verify all lab equipment is calibrated and maintained through maintenance checklists; lens inventory procedures are followed; and lab expenses are kept at within budget. Address equipment malfunctions immediately.

4. Communicate and work to achieve store goals with lab associates on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Routinely check work orders.

5. Assist in controlling inventory shrinkage through the monitoring and recording of breakage, defects, exchanges, receipts, inventory levels and supplies.

6. Schedule lab associates in compliance with payroll guidelines while considering skill levels and customer demands.

7. With the support of the General Manager and/or the District Technical Manager conduct lab associate performance appraisals, and coaching / counseling meetings when expectations are not achieved.

8. Ensure that all Company safety rules and standards are followed in accordance with the Hazardous Communication Policy to include internal handling and waste disposal.

9. May act as supervisor of overall store operations in absence of a Retail Supervisor and/or General Manager.

10. Embrace and promote Company Culture and Code of Business Conduct.

Experience/Education:

* HS Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required

* One (1) - five (5) years of related experience required

* Licensed LS will have a State Opticians License

Additional Requirements:

* Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

* Must meet all Lab Certification requirements

* Must be able to read, write and communicate in English in order to understand written procedures, hazardous warning, etc.

* Favorable result on Background Check

* Must have own vehicle and be an insured, licensed driver in current state of residence

* Must demonstrate practical application of optical theory and math

Mental/Physical Requirements:

* Work changing schedules to meet business demands

About the Role:

Atria is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for our in-office laboratory in Manhattan. This position will oversee the collection, processing, and testing of in-office orders of waived and moderate complexity assays, interaction with partner labs for send-out of high complexity testing, and maintain of the laboratory with a focus on compliance and safety. The position is on-site during business hours on weekdays with occasional need for additional coverage due to clinical and business needs. Experience: Minimum of 6 years in a high complexity clinical laboratory with experience in Hematology and Chemistry required. Experience with waived and moderate laboratory operations is desired. The ideal candidate has experience with phlebotomy and patient facing care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day technical and regulatory oversight of the laboratory
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA and NYS DoH regulations and standards
  • Verify test procedures and monitor performance criteria, including accuracy and precision
  • Enroll and participate in proficiency testing programs

    • Incumbent located in Pennsylvania or New Jersey must hold a bachelor's degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science or HEW certification by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare as a Medical Technologist, plus six years of laboratory experience;
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Technology principles, concepts, and methodologies sufficient to perform a broad range of testing; Knowledge of mathematical and statistical methods sufficient to calculate and convert analytical data to test results is required;

• Advising supervisors on test results and alerting them to deficiencies
• Providing technical data and product information to sales and clients
• Maintaining accurate documentation of results, reports, and communication

What You Bring to the Table
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4+ years in Quality Control)
• Solid understanding of construction material testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.)
• Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Comfortably using lab equipment, nuclear gauges, and working in both lab and field settings
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites

Bonus Skills (Not Required but Preferred)
• Familiarity with DOT specifications and material certification processes
• Prior experience submitting mixed designs or test results for government contracts

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

You'll be hands-on in the lab and outdoors on active job sites. Conditions may involve:
• Lifting up to 70 lbs., bending, climbing, and working with hand tools
• Exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and live traffic
• Required PPE includes hard hat, safety vest, steel-toed boots, gloves, eye and hearing protection

Lab Supervisor - Lenexa, KS - Monday to Friday (Rotational Weekends) - 8:00AM-5:00PM

Under direction of the manager/director, plan, organize, schedule and direct the work of the section in order to effectively maximize employees, equipment and material utilization within budgetary constraints while adhering to quality technical standards. Accountable for quantity and quality of specimens handled and test results.

Pay Range: $73,000+ per year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee activities of the department, distribute/assign work, determine priorities, schedule non-routine procedures.
  • Perform supervisory functions for their assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • Perform advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques. May duplicate work of others to confirm test results. Re-evaluate methodology, make recommended changes and assists in test interpretation. Determine if further testing should be done on samples or if test should be repeated.
  • Check/approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy.
  • Initiate quality-control measures and monitor quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards.
  • Perform duties of technologist as necessitated by absence or peak workload.
  • Completes special projects as requested - surveys, statistical reports, studies, research, etc.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional and sanitary condition.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management.
  • Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel, if applicable.
  • Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections, if needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Work Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) years full-time supervisory experience
  • New York State Inspection Lab Requirements
  • 6 years clinical experience
Preferred Work Experience:

At least 1 year as a Supervisor at Quest Diagnostics

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty required.
  • Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
Skills:
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have the ability to work independently, establish work priorities and to handle several tasks simultaneously for maximum department efficiency.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with employees, co-workers and clients.
  • Ability to deal with client information in a confidential manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.
