We are a global biotechnology company, advancing personalized healthcare by developing and commercializing precision clinical diagnostic tests for life-changing diseases. Our tests are based on OBD's proprietary 3D genomic biomarker platform, EpiSwitch which enables screening, evaluation, validation and monitoring of biomarkers to diagnose patients or determine how individuals might respond to a disease or treatment.

Currently OBD has two commercially available products: the EpiSwitch PSE (Prostate Cancer Detection) blood test and EpiSwitch CiRT (cancer immunotherapy response) blood test.

The Group's US operations and clinical laboratory are in Frederick, Maryland. Our headquarters and UK laboratories are in Oxford, UK, and we have a reference laboratory in Penang, Malaysia.

Role Overview:

As a Clinical Laboratory Associate, you are responsible for handling biological samples, reagents and materials in support of clinical laboratory testing. This is an entry level laboratory-based position, whose primary functions will include a combination of clinical operations support and patient testing services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and accession clinical samples
• Execute assigned clinical sample processing utilizing approved SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and following related WI (Work Instructions)
• Processes include extraction of DNA from human whole blood, quantitative PCR (qPCR), and data analysis
• Operate a variety of laboratory equipment (e.g., qPCR thermocyclers, electronic pipettes, centrifuges, robot automation, etc.)
• Perform sample processing in compliance with the Clinical Quality Management System and record all experimental details in real-time
• Communicate and support resolution of any issues/deviations that arise

Operational Responsibilities:

• Read and follow all company guidelines, policies, and SOPs
• Contribute to laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties and associated documentation (e.g., maintenance logs, physical/electronic inventories, labelling)
• Abide by all safety requirements as defined by the company, including proper use of personal protective equipment for working with human materials and chemicals
• Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• BSc. or MSc. in relevant subject (with wet lab research projects), or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience would need to include basic knowledge in scientific method, math skills, (including simple algebra), knowledge of chemistry and biology.
• 1 year of laboratory experience (preferably in a regulatory environment) would be an advantage.

We offer an exciting, collaborative culture and a salary of between $48,000 and $58,500 gross per year. We also offer health, dental, vision, 401(k) as well as holidays and vacation.

Avian Junior Laboratory Associate to study black-capped chickadees in the New York area. Prior mist-netting experience required. The associate will join a growing research group at NYU focused on understanding the neural mechanisms of memory in food-caching birds. The associate will be based at NYU’s downtown Manhattan campus year-round, with intermittent fieldwork within a 2-hour radius of New York City.

Primary responsibilities:

• Daily care, feeding, and maintenance of black-capped chickadees and zebra finches housed at NYU

• Assistance with behavioral and neurobiological experiments in the lab

• Support for general lab operations and administration

• Fieldwork in the fall and winter consisting of maintenance of field sites and mist-netting to band and collect wild chickadees

• Transportation and handling of birds from field sites to the lab

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,656 - $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Demonstrated experience mist-netting and handling wild birds. Valid driver's license and willingness to drive self and others for field work. Interest in neuroscience research. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

As a highly skilled lab technologist/technician , you will play a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing various laboratory tests and procedures. • Consistently adheres to established Laboratory and Hospital policies for Universal Precautions, Chemical Hygiene and Safety procedures.
• Wears lab coat, gloves, goggles and protective devices as required when handling specimens.
• Properly disposes of contaminated and hazardous waste materials.
• Assists coworkers when main bench duties are completed.
• Participates in formal continuing education program sponsored by Professional Organizations.
• Rotates through all work stations in the Microbiology department.

Requirements:

• Baccalaureate degree in relevant science preferred.
• One (1) year clinical laboratory internship preferred.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) certification is required within 1 year from the date of hire.
