Scientific Director - Oncology Research
What you will do

We are seeking a Scientific Director to establish and lead discovery research initially focused on tumor somatic genetics and DNA amplification as relates to large molecule drug development.

In this vital role, the Scientific Director will work closely with Oncology senior leadership to set the strategy, establish and lead activities that expand and complement our current research capabilities. The candidate will contribute to collaborations within Amgen (e.g., Amgen deCODE Genetics). The role involves supporting test setups for power electronics labs, performing and monitoring tests, and assisting with failure analysis and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support the test setups for power electronics labs (environmental, thermal, durability, etc.)
• Perform and monitor tests as needed by the test plan e.g. EOL and thermal measurements
• Support the failure analysis/root cause analysis for failed units/components

Job Details:

Testing and inspection

Build and prepare samples for testing

Follow instructions to run tests, record data, and monitor ongoing tests
Inspect hardware samples for defects and operational issues
Use basic hand tools, power tools, and electrical tools to support testing and
test setup development.

Experience Required
● Experience working in a reliability or hardware testing lab
● Familiarity with test and inspection equipment:
○ Temperature & humidity chambers
○ Mechanical test stations
○ Weathering chambers with a DI water filtration system
○ Optical microscope
● Familiarity with lab tools:
○ Basic hand tools
○ Basic power tools (band saw, mitre saw, sander)
○ Wire strippers and crimpers
○ Multimeters and oscilloscopes
○ Soldering iron

● Equipment maintenance

Overview

The role involves supporting manufacturing processes, ensuring prototypes meet requirements, and performing quality inspections on various builds. The technician will work independently and collaboratively to enhance team efficiency and maintain lab organization.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing process and ensure that all prototypes meet requirements.
• Perform quality inspection on incoming parts, work in progress builds, and completed builds.
• Follow systematic processes, document potential issues and improvements, and contribute to enhancing team efficiency.
• Work with engineering to fabricate and/or modify system and subsystem components.
• Maintain a knowledge level of high voltage, low voltage, and general electric vehicle systems.
• Rework PCBAs.
• Organize and maintain the Prototype lab space, equipment, and inventory utilizing 5S and EHS methods.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience

Requirements

• PCBA rework capabilities.
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and components.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and build equipment.
• Ability to be flexible and responsive.
• Hands-on mentality.
