- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.

- Act as a point of contact during proficiency testing and actively engage in result evaluation.
- Stay current with advancements in medical technology through continuous education and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lab Supervisor functions as the managing technologist, under the guidance of the Lab Director, and is responsible for being part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, development and implementation of objectives for the Lab. The Lab Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all technical and logistical functions to ensure prompt and accurate testing and reporting of results for all laboratory samples within established timeframes. The Lab Supervisor functions within the scope of practice regulated by State and National government as well as various accrediting agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works as a bench technologist approximately 50% of the time, chemistry, Hematology, PCR testing.

Supervise all PMG clinical laboratory staff. Performs all personnel functions for all clinical laboratory staff including approving PTO, preparing bi-weekly time sheets, and completing all annual evaluations.

Oversee daily operations of clinical laboratory, including LIS and interfaces with EMR, and equipment maintenance agreements.

Maintains all laboratory records and procedure manuals in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Monitors laboratory performance for compliance with accreditation, federal, and state regulatory requirements and reports deficiencies to administration.

Writes/updates lab policies and SOPs as necessary.

Analyzes new tests to be implemented at PMG and assists in equipment acquisition and validation studies before new process put into use in conjunction with the Laboratory Medical Director.

Reviews lot to lot studies, linearities, and instrument correlations as needed

Reviews calibrations and Quality control monthly

Acquires appropriate proficiency testing material that meets NYSDOH guidelines. Reviews, results, and provides corrective action as needed.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
You Will:
+ Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing by analyzing proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete within the allowable time frame

The **Laboratory Supervisor** is responsible for managing assigned selected aspects of laboratory processes or shifts, which may include workflow, quality control process, writing/reviewing procedures, performance improvement activities, training of new employees, advanced problem solving for customers and coworkers, department equipment or computer maintenance and upgrades, or other tasks assigned. Assists department leadership with meeting goals in all areas. Work customarily involves analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens. Analytical laboratory testing generally requires a moderate to high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge and expertise in licensed area(s). Depending on campus and department, various pre-and post-analytical work processes are included in the work duties customarily performed; on-call hours may also be required. Follows laboratory policies and procedures; maintains quality control practices in the Laboratory. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

+ Carries out post-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, reporting results (including highly abnormal results) in accordance with established procedures, and providing technical and support information related to laboratory testing for all age groups.
+ Reads, examines, and interprets complex test results, serving as a resource and addressing complex tests/procedures.
+ Manages instrument maintenance and troubleshooting practices.
+ Leads quality control and quality assurance testing.
+ Provides orientation and training to new employees and medical technology students, and documenting orientation and training.
+ Provides guidance to technical and support staff, resolves customer service issues within guidelines, and supports education to clinical staff as appropriate or requested.
+ Follows safety policies including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling, and completes required training for handling hazardous waste.
+ Assists with Standard Operating Procedures and document control.
+ Participates in laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities.
+ May include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area; employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
**The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed** **:**
+ Bachelors in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology field Required
+ 3 years of clinical laboratory experience
+ IIn licensure states, Laboratory Supervisor Level Licensure in appropriate specialty(ies) for the department or location assignment as applicable to the state -OR -
+ In non-licensure states, must hold a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT unless grandfathered per state requirement

+ Supervises laboratory staff

**The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:**
**Minimum qualifications** :
+ Bachelor's degree or masters degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology field and 3 years of clinical laboratory experience.
+ Current State of Florida licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor with qualifications in Molecular Pathology, Microbiology, Serology, Hematology, Immunohematology, and Clinical Chemistry.
+ Must hold a certification from one of the following Medical Laboratory Scientist (American Society for Clinical Pathology), or Medical Technologist (American Society for Clinical Pathology), or Medical Technologist (American Medical Technologist), or Medical Technologist (American Associate of Bioanalyst).
