What You'll Get to Do: AnaVation has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead LAN/WAN Engineer who will provide expert Design, analysis, research, and operation support to exceptionally complex networking problems and processes. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clearance: U.S. Citizen, TS/SCI security clearance with ability to obtain a CI poly
  • Certification: IAT II, (or Industry Equivalent), CCNP or CCIE (or industry equivalent)
  • Education: Bachelors + 7 Yrs Experience and knowledge:
  • Serving as a leader in the local- and wide-area networking; highly sought by others for advice and guidance.

**Job Description**
The Senior Network Engineer's primary duties include operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting very complex IT networks. Will assist government users in system problem diagnosis and troubleshooting, collection of problem information, and recommendation of fixes. Participates in the daily activities of configuration and operation of customer IT networked systems. Provides quality assurance and operational reporting requirements. Will configure and test new technology, enhance current systems, and pioneer technology for new systems, work with cable fabrication, and troubleshoot communication lines and equipment.
Specifically, the selected candidate will work closely with military personnel for the operations and maintenance (O&M), install, testing and training of communication systems. Will perform in rack, cabinet, cable support system, and general telecommunications equipment mounting and terminate coaxial, Cat-6 UTP, multi-mode fiber, single mode fiber, and any other connection required in the support of telecommunications systems. Will troubleshoot end connectivity to distant end and remote locations and attached network devices and monitor Local and Wide Area Networks to include transport links, layer 1 and layer 2 network devices. Perform trend analysis on circuits, network devices and server infrastructure and will use a ticketing system to report network outages to local work centers and track status of the outage until restoration has occurred.
Will also design and install new cabling, equipment, and associated hardware and software to extend and/or enhance existing services. Monitor statuses and alert systems necessary to provide real time network availability to include remote applications and hardware necessary to monitor and communicate with remote sites as required.
Will also provide end-to-end support equipment and services, including instrument placement, infrastructure and other required services to provide telecommunications related connectivity within and external to the customer.
This position is located in Washington DC. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Washington DC or surrounding areas.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
High school diploma and a minimum of 12 years of direct experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation, and support
Current SSBI/T5 adjudicated within the past three years (must be able to pass additional access screenings)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
Security certification in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction
Experience with Synchronous Optical Networks (SONET)
Experience Wide Area Networks
Routing and switching experience
IP network experience
BoIP and VoIP experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem isolation techniques for solving complex troubles with telecommunication instruments, equipment, circuits, channels, and trunk troubles where limited standardization exists.

**Pay Information**

The IT System Administrator 2 - LAN-WAN Infrastructure is responsible for assisting and supporting the Manager - Network and Infrastructure in managing all LAN-WAN Infrastructure.

What your day will look like:
  • Manage and monitor all LAN-WAN Infrastructure and related components to achieve high performance and availability of these systems. This includes monitoring for and reporting of system outages, failure of
  • certain components or devices identified by the Manager - Network and Infrastructure
  • Monitoring server logs, system messages, perform troubleshooting operations and generate alerts, messages and reports of system issues related to LAN-WAN Infrastructure
  • Provide technical and system support for all LAN-WAN Infrastructure
  • This position includes possible weekend work and on call support as required
  • Responsible for the settings, configuration and maintenance of LAN-WAN and related hardware/software
  • Performs troubleshooting pertaining to LAN-WAN hardware/software
  • Takes initiative for the network security and systems upgrades
  • Address Service Desk Tickets related to the LAN-WAN Infrastructure
  • Develop and/or maintain related LAN-WAN Infrastructure documentation as needed

The New York City Employees' Retirement System seeks a Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN), Level 1 to join their Infrastructure Management unit in the Information Technology division. This individual will join a team of senior technicians who support 700 users in our locations in Brooklyn and Long Island City.

The following is a list of technologies in which the individual must be proficient, and will be required to support:

-VMWare version 7.0 U3, including vCenter management, vMotion and storage management; DellEMC Data Domain and Veritas Netbackup; building and deploying Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Windows 10 VM server templates, and troubleshooting all VM relevant issues including SRM site recovery in a Cisco UCS HW environment; Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration including Active Directory, group policy, DNS, Certificate Authority, DHCP, FTP etc.; printers and print server administration; Microsoft365 (including ADConnect, AzureAD, InTune/Endpoint Management, Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint, Exchange Online, and Office365), and the Azure computing platform including virtual servers and desktops (AVD)
-Citrix server, virtual applications and desktops (VDIs), FSLogix, SCCM, Web server platform build and administration (IBM Websphere, IIS, and Apache Tomcat), SQL experience. Powershell scripting is a major plus, and Linux server experience is preferred.
-The candidate should be prepared to enter an environment that is transitioning core IT services to a number of 3rd party cloud service providers (primarily DaaS and SaaS), so experience with providers such as Box, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and others is a plus.
-The technician will be required to work with minimal supervision and in a project team environment, including interaction with application development, network administrators, and storage administrators.
-The technician should be a "self-starter" as they will be required to troubleshoot problems and research solutions independently. This may include extensive interaction with support staff from NYCERS' vendor.
-The technician will be required to clearly document technical solutions including software installation, application configurations, and platform schematics - preparing and reviewing technical LAN/WAN documentation as situations dictate.
-The technician will be required to develop automation scripts to carry out routine tasks where possible.
-The technician will be responsible for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving service tickets via phone, email, and in person. They will be responsible for handling escalations from the BSC support team (level 1 helpdesk) and other IT Division staff.
-The person will be required to work overtime upon request, including the potential for the occasional weekend. The technician may be responsible for coordinating deployment across NYCERS Systems.

CERTIFIED IT ADMINISTRATOR (LA - 13652

Qualifications

Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following:

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or

2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in "1" or

3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A master's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in "1" above.

Note: In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: Incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environments(s) in which they may be assigned to work, as determined by the employing agency.
