Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Land Surveying Intern to join our Land Surveying team in Plainville, or Groton CT. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting land surveying and civil site development projects. From your first day, you'll work alongside experienced surveyors and engineers, applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects that support land development and infrastructure improvements.
This is a paid internship.
This opportunity is ideal for studentswho are eager to grow their technical skills and gain practical experience in surveying and civil engineering.
What You'll Do-
Assist experienced survey field staff with topographic and boundary surveys, route surveys, stream surveys, and construction stakeouts
Gain exposure to progressive technology, including robotic total stations, GPS, UAS (drone), and LiDAR scanning
Learn to collect survey data and search for boundary evidence while working in a variety of terrain and outdoor conditions
Perform physical field tasks such as setting stakes and monuments, clearing brush, and hiking
Utilize surveying software to gather, retrieve, and interpret data, and perform basic survey computations

Your Key Responsibilities
- Operate multiple surveying instruments and data collectors.
- Operate a survey grade GPS unit for location and stakeout task.

- Work as a team player under the supervision of the Survey Crew Chief.

This is a full-time on-site role for a Survey Office Technician to prepare various types of survey drawings to ensure adherence to established company specifications and standards. Candidate must be proficient in preparing ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and right of way surveys for a diverse group of private and energy sector clients. We are currently utilizing Civil 3D, Pix 4D, StarNet and Trimble Business Center software packages for drafting/mapping, adjustments and data processing.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in surveying technology/geomatics, civil engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Minimum of two years of related experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
- A motor vehicle record (MVR) check along with drug screening is a standard condition of employment.
Responsibilities
- Process field data and perform adjustments as needed.
- Produce drawings with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Prepare survey calculations
- Perform research as it relates to boundaries, rights-of-way, utilities and project control.
