**Description**
PCSI is looking for Gardener at NASA Langley Research Center. The Gardner will assist in the accomplishment of minor grounds maintenance tasks and maintain the health and appearance of plants by watering, weeding, and fertilizing. This position will report to the Director of Operations and is based in Hampton, Virginia.
**Typical work hours will be 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.**

**What You'll Do as Gardner:**
+ Assist in the accomplishment of minor grounds maintenance tasks.
+ Maintain the health and appearance of plants by watering, weeding, and fertilizing.
+ Use equipment to maintain grounds, such as mowing lawns, edging grass, and trimming trees.
+ Keep grounds clear of debris and litter.
+ Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of grounds equipment.
+ Follow safety and health regulations for landscaping and meet standards of the contract

**What You'll Need:**
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

+ Familiarity with regional plant life, local pests, and synthetic and natural fertilizers.

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The Grants Coordinator works with the Office of Research Support and GSM Business Office to provide support for all aspects of pre-award research administration and compliance and components of the post-award process. This position prepares and processes grant submissions, answers questions and inquiries related to research sponsored programs, maintains official documentation on grants and their associate contracts, and prepares monthly reports on research activity.

Responsibilities

  1. Educates faculty and staff to understand internal and external grant policies and processes.
  2. Communicates funding opportunities to faculty and staff, provides the RFA application requirements and deadlines, and generates applicate templates and documents needed for submission.
  3. Notifies senior research leadership and GSM Business office of changing state, federal, and private foundation grant standards, and proposal guidelines.
  4. Assists faculty and staff with the generation of research budgets and budget justifications.
  5. Serves as main point of contact for collaborating institutions, research agreements, research amendments, MTAs, or other related documents routed through Cayuse.
  6. Collaborates with PI or staff members listed on a grant submission to ensure timely completion of all requirements for UTHSC OSP approvals (CITI training, OID, RCOI).
  7. Reviews grants for adherence to guidelines and completes applications with appropriate institutional information.
  8. Collaborates with investigators to confirm submitted budgets versus funded budgets are accurate; understands the concepts of re-budgets and no-cost time extensions.
  9. Generates and provides post-award packet.
  10. Manages database to track grant submissions, grant awards, and funding opportunities.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in grant-related research administrative position; OR a combination of education and experience to equal five (5) years. (Previous administrative experience within a University, Federal Laboratory, or other research-intensive environment is preferred.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

*CTRC Job Specific Competencies:* The CTRC nurse has the competence and competencies regarding all aspects of administering and monitoring a variety of systemic cancer therapies and other injectable infusions to an adult population in the Clinical & Translation Research Center.
Infusions administered may include (but are not limited to) research protocols and standard of care chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, blood products, IVIG, growth factors, antibiotics, electrolytes and hydration.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to assess and educate patients and family/caregivers to ensure future care needs are met.
Develops collaborative, professional relationships with physicians and all members of the health care team, including research teams. Specific competencies include: IV insertion and venous access device management; Accurate administration and monitoring of infusions via a variety of routes (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous); Performing an independent double-check for chemotherapy administration; Safe handling and disposal of chemotherapy to minimize patient and staff exposure to hazardous drugs; Management of treatment-related side effects and adverse reactions; Minimizing the risk for infection among patients who are actually or potentially immunocompromised; Knowledge needed to facilitate early detection of specific side effects that lead to effective self-management of the side effect when it does occur.
Education
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing (RN).
Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing

Preferred: Bachelor's degree with at least two years of clinical nursing experience preferably in oncology, research, med/surg and or cardiac.

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit ).

+ Coordinates and oversees patient (study participant) activity as it relates to the conduct of research and clinical trials, serving as a liaison for both patient and the private investigator (PI) and monitors patients for safety and adverse events during medical procedures, including administration of parenteral investigational agents depending on area of assignment.
+ Assists in disbursement of oral investigational drugs, provides patient teaching regarding administration, and educates patients and family members about protocols including risks and benefits of participation, potential side-effects, and self-administration of drugs.
+ Completes and/or supervises staff for the completion of case report forms on assigned protocols within the time frame required by the study and works in partnership with regulatory team to ensure appropriate credentialing, training, and maintenance of regulatory documents in accordance with SOP and applicable regulations.
+ Oversees and/or conducts basic lab duties including centrifuging, aliquoting, and storing and shipping of study specimens.
+ Completes data entry into sponsor-specific data entry systems and/or supports data coordinator, including query resolution and transcribes information across various internal and external electronic data systems.
+ Trains less senior team members and interns and identifies his/her ongoing professional development needs and seeks resources and opportunities to meet those needs (nursing organizations, independent classes, lectures, etc.)
+ Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
