Job Title/Location
Machinist – Santa Fe Springs, CA
Under general supervision, manages the CNC Lathe function of machining metal parts to print specifications. Performs required machine set-up and quality audits through the use of precision measuring instruments and special test equipment. Monitors/performs workflow in order to meet customer demands and production control requirements.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Run multiple lathes (2"-24")
Setup
Monitors the machining of metal parts to print specifications.
Adjust programs
Perform Offsets
Performs self inspection plus the required quality audits through the use of precision measuring instruments and special test equipment.
Performs production according to assigned priorities and communicates deviations to appropriate personnel.
Collaborate with leads to monitor/augment departmental performance and makes adjustments to equipment and workload as needed.
Ensures that all required materials are available prior to initiating production. Communicates open issues to alternate shifts.
Provides mentoring as required to achieve increased skills for production and quality workmanship.
Performs daily prior-to-use equipment maintenance tasks.
Participates in daily 6S activities and adheres to all safety regulations.
Participates in development of Job Safety Analysis.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
High School Diploma, Equivalency, or GED.
Demonstrated successful performance of manual adjustment of programming at machine interface.
Ability to complete set-ups using 4th axis, with multiple offsets.
2 or more years’ experience in the operations of a CNC Lathe.
Knowledge of tooling and precision set-ups with consistent quality results.
Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
Knowledge of machinery speeds and feeds utilizing a variety of high strength materials.
Ability to fluently read and follow instructions in English.
Must read, understand, refer to and interpret Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) dimensioning and third view projection blueprints.
Ability to interpret prints and engineering drawings.
Ability to perform machining on a variety of high strength materials (Inconel, A286, Titanium, Stainless, Chrome, 300M, 15-5, etc).
Beneficial Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.

Studies specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
Maintains holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.
Evaluates regular machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut for anomalies.
Communicate and document anomalies to Group Leader/Shift Leader.
Verify conformance of finished product to specifications.
Maintain and manage the statistical process controls (SPC) database per QMM guidelines.
May be required to set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data for capability studies.
Works with designers, production personnel, programmers and others to resolve machining problems.
Participate in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities within the area.
Must be attentive and aware of machine anomalies as they occur.
May be required to train new employees.
Provide feedback (CIP) to all related areas Machining, Assembly, Test and/or QMM.
Cross-train on other functions within the team.

**Qualifications**
+ High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited school (ex. CHEA, PA Department of Education, FL Department of Education, US Military).
+ Four years of CNC machining experience required.
+ Knowledge of CNC controls including, but not limited to: working knowledge of G code programming functions, advance program-editing skills at the machine, etc preferred.
+ Knowledge for both handling and usage of precision tools including, but not limited to: venires, thread gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, tooling set-up fixtures.
+ Ability to:
+ setup a CNC center for production including, but not limited to: fixture setup, verification (prove-out) of first piece along with program, completion of production runs.
+ read and interpret programs, prints and coordination sheets.
+ verify correct cutting speed and feed rates for tooling and materials.
+ confirm conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
+ Good interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
+ Able to accommodate changes in production and work schedules in order to meet deadlines.
+ Able to be certified to run an overhead crane.

**CNC Machinist -- 3rd Shift**
Your primary function as a Machinist will be to set up and operate NC/CNC machines, as well as conventional machines to produce (and repair) a variety of finished and semi-finished components and assemblies. **Your Challenge:**
+ Read and interpret detailed part and tool drawings. Set up and operate a variety of NC/CNC machines, including multi-axis machines, HBM, VTL, lathe, grinding, and hone machine tools with related tools, computers and attachments, etc. utilizing all types and sizes of fixtures, attachments, gauges, precision measuring equipment, machinist's tools, etc.
+ Operate bridge cranes, jib cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, etc. for material handling; and computers and Manufacturing Systems.
+ Follow established operational procedures to perform all machining functions such as turn, mill, bore, groove, chamfer, profile, taper, tap, etc. Hand or machine blending and finishing as required. + Support development and routine machining operations associated with NC/CNC Mill/Turn, HBM, VTL, Horizontal Lathe equipment.

+ Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset
+ 4+ years in CNC machines experience

+ Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet.
