Position Summary:
The EPD/Security Officer provides patient and visitor greetings, Guides patients seeking emergency care to the areas to sign in for triage. Screens patients before they are seen in triage using a portable or fixed metal detector. Provides a high visibility of security for the ED, Triage and Admissions areas. This position provides directions for all visitors and patients using the emergency department entrance. This position will assist contract security officers during heightened security events. The position will also screen after hour visitors and work with patient care areas in communicating visitor requests.
Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Colorado Law Enforcement Officer/POST Certified.
B. Education:
Law Enforcement training/education equal to or above the required Colorado Law Enforcement Officer/POST Certification training.
C. Experience:
1-2 years experience in law enforcement and must be currently employed as a Colorado law enforcement officer.
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of Colorado laws and law enforcement procedures. NRA certified, Taser certified. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills when dealing with a variety of patients, visitors and employees. Knowledge of firearms, tasers, and other law enforcement tools and tactics.
