**Responsibilities**
**1.0 PURPOSE:**
+ Detail specific tasks and responsibilities for the position of Lead Driver Trainer.
+ Ensure job performance is safe, effective, and efficient.
**2.0 SCOPE:**
+ Used from the date of hire throughout training as a reference.
+ Not all-inclusive.
**3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Transport goods and freight using a truck or tractor-trailer.
+ Complete pre/post-trip inspections on tractor and trailer.
+ Inspect load for proper securement.
+ Notify dispatch if the load is not properly secured; use straps/load locks as necessary.
+ Review BOL for accuracy.
+ Plan route, breaks, and deliveries to meet customer deadlines.
+ Complete electronic DVIR via ELD for any deficiencies.
+ Contact maintenance and Penske repair hotline for necessary repairs/inspections.
+ Schedule preventive maintenance and repairs with Lease provider (Penske/Ryder).
+ Contact safety and dispatch immediately after a safety incident.
+ Complete monthly Near Miss documentation.
+ Ensure on-time pick-up and delivery from consignee.
+ Utilize onboard TMS system for dispatch and communication.
+ Comply with all traffic laws and FMCSR regulations, including hours of service.
+ Communicate effectively with dispatchers and transportation personnel.
+ Monitor weather and road conditions for safe driving.
+ Manage cargo securement and load distribution.
+ Complete and submit a daily trip sheet.
+ Submit weekly documentation (trip sheets, lumper receipts, fuel receipts, etc.).
+ Communicate professionally with all relevant personnel and officials.
+ Pull the 5th wheel release, tandem axle releases, and trailer doors in all weather conditions.
+ Adjust trailer pin height using the metal crank.
+ Sit for extended periods (up to the hours of service limit).
+ Adapt quickly to road, environmental, and job demands.
+ Work weekends as needed.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
+ Load and unload trailers using hand, forklift, or pallet jack.
+ Pick and pack materials for shipping.
+ Use powered equipment safely upon certification at each Company location.
+ Utilize WMS for inventory and trailer loading/unloading.
+ Travel to Company warehouses for onsite support.
+ Maintain accurate inventory counts.
+ Perform cycle counts and physical inventories.
+ Assist in breaking down empty gaylords and maintaining baler.
+ Assist other drivers and material handlers as assigned.
+ Do not use power equipment at a facility until certified.
+ Train CDL drivers in safety, driving, and delivery processes.
+ Travel to locations to instruct drivers in safety, onboard system usage, and procedures.
+ Evaluate drivers using observation and assessment tools.
+ Ensure training vehicles meet safety standards.
+ Practice and coach defensive driving techniques.
+ Provide coaching and feedback to improve driving skills.
+ Maintain driver training and progress documentation.
+ Stay updated on transportation regulations.

The current starting compensation is as follows:
Class B starts at $20 and Class A starts $1.50 per hour based on experience

Qualifications:
* Must hold a valid CDL
* Must be at least 21 years of age
* Meet and maintain qualifications for CDL requirements
* Follow all DOT standards and regulations
* Possession of a DOT Medical Card or the ability to acquire a DOT Medical Card
* Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50lbs
* A background in warehouse operations and logistics, including shipping, receiving and delivery is a plus
* Strong communicator with a customer-focused approach
* Able to navigate and operate basic technology, including iPads
Responsibilities:
* Deliver materials to the customer, which includes assistance with loading and unloading and ensuring delivery of ticket with material
* Pick up customer returns, validating product match for credit requests
* Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fuel the truck as needed, and report any problems or issues to supervisor
* Follow and implement all company safety policies and procedures
* Assist warehouse personnel with pulling and preparing orders for shipment as needed, as well as receiving, verifying, staging and stocking incoming material
* Ability to work overtime as needed
* Must adhere to all safety regulations, including the correct usage of personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes wearing a safety harness with a maximum weight capacity of 400 lbs.

* Pay Range:
* 19.26 - 30.76
* Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
* This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.

As a Truck Driver at Ryerson, you will be responsible for safely operate a commercial motor vehicle to deliver material to customers.
Roles and Responsibilities- Load and unload trucks as required
- Deliver metal of all shapes / sizes to customers
- Pickup necessary material from customer jobsite
- Make vendor pick-ups as necessary
- Maintain safe operation of company vehicle as outlined by the FMCSA
- Verify final packaging of material per customer specification
- Maximum productivity during job task
- Operating an overhead crane to move material as needed
- Operating a forklift to move material as needed
- Carrying/moving supplies as needed
- All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
- 1-3 years flatbed driving experience
- Unexpired Class A CDL truck driver's license required
- Must possess clean driving record
- Valid FMCSA medical card
- Experience making customer deliveries and pick-ups
- Industrial warehouse experience preferred
- Basic math and reading skills
- Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
