Responsibilities

Technical expertise and Communication:

Innovation and improvement:

Collaboration across teams:
Work closely with colleagues across sustainability services, certification, engineering, testing, and external partnerships. Share knowledge and contribute to joint projects that deliver business and societal impact.
External engagement:
Represent UL externally through technical working groups and standards committees related to sustainability topics. Build relationships with external organizations (standards bodies, industry consortia, academic institutions, and NGOs) to stay current on sustainability science trends, contribute to collaborative projects, and enhance UL's thought leadership.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills
+ Minimum B.S. degree from an accredited university, advanced degree preferred (Master's or Ph.D.) in engineering, physical sciences, sustainability, environmental science, industrial ecology, or a related scientific discipline.
+ 3-6 years of relevant professional experience in connecting sustainability innovation to core business value.
+ Demonstrated expertise in at least one core sustainability science area (e.g., life cycle assessment, carbon accounting, circular economy, material health, sustainable design, etc).
+ Awareness of cross-sector collaborations relevant to key environmental sustainability challenges.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in sustainability assessment tools, databases, and/or data analysis software.

The Global Research & Development (GR&D) Wipes Lead Scientist Formulations – Front End Innovation provides formulation expertise and leadership for developing technologies and formulations for global wet wipes and dry tissue. This role resides within the GR&D Wipes Product Steward organization and will primarily be focused on supporting global wet wipe and dry tissue product development. This role partners closely with GR&D, KCNA R&D, Global Quality, Marketing, EHS and Segment R&D teams.
In this role, you will:
- Leads formulation development projects that meet consumer, quality, product safety and compliance needs. Delivers formulations per project timelines and IMF commitments.
- Develops creative technical solutions based on consumer insights, leveraging published scientific research, patent art, and deep understanding of cosmetic raw materials and formulation stability fundamentals.
- Works closely with Formulation Technical Leader and Formulation Team members to progress formulation development activities and design/carry-out lab experiments.
- Closely partners with Global and Regional R&D product development and Marketing teams to ensure work meets project needs. Builds strong relationships with at least one business to coordinate support.
- Considers impact of new technologies on quality and manufacturing. Works with D&C to develop line-of-sight to commercial implementation at K-C or external facilities.

+ Working knowledge and design ability for data center liquid cooling technologies.

The annual base salary range for this position is $136 - $169k. This position is incentive eligible. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. The Lead Scientist I, Manufacturing Sciences for Cytiva is responsible cross functional work with manufacturing, product engineering, R&D, QC, RRP and the customer to develop new processes within manufacturing to successfully produce new custom products, support manufacturing through improvements to our processes, and support quality investigations
This position is part of the Manufacturing Sciences located in Logan, UT and will be onsite. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What you will do:
+ Utilize knowledge of chemistry, biology and manufacturing to manage custom cell culture media qualification for pharma customers
+ Identify, develop and qualify current process improvements to ensure first time success with new custom cell culture media products
+ Use Broad expertise in biotechnology and manufacturing to resolve urgent issues with current and new custom products and drive to root cause and effective corrective actions
+ Prepare and present written and oral presentations for new product processes and applications both internally and externally
+ Drive projects with manufacturing, QC, QA, QE to implement process changes and improvements to ensure first time success for each new custom product
Who you are:
+ MS in Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 3+ years experience
+ Experience with cell culture techniques, filtration processes and biochemical analytical techniques.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Cell culture media manufacturing experience
