Job Description
GSK is seeking a Lean Six Sigma Practitioner to join our GSK Production System (GPS) team for our Zebulon Site to deliver on our GPS maturity plan. As a Site Lean Six Sigma Practitioner (GPS Practitioner), you will partner with the Site leaders and their teams to deploy and embed the GPS standards to enhance business performance in Quality, Safety, Service, Cost, and Innovation. You will be a member of the GPS and Strategy team reporting directly to the Head of GPS & Strategy.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Implement GPS program deployment according to GSK standards and as aligned with the global OneGPS roadmap for the assigned value streams.
- Role model GPS skills and lean leadership behaviors and be a subject matter expert in GPS and Lean Six Sigma. Establish and lead the site continuous improvement projects aligned to the OneGPS standards.
- Lead day to day deployment of the GPS standards as well as all related improvement activities at site level (business impact on safety, quality, cost, and people). Must be an active participant in Process Performance Management of assigned value stream.
- Support SLT in the identification of financial and non-financial benefits associated with GPS implementation.
- Teach, train, mentor, coach at all site levels in GPS and Lean methodologies. Must be active in problem solving and Gemba daily.
- Drive and develop the capability of staff at all levels to lead and own their CI plans.
- Be an active member of the Regional GPS network including regular performance reporting and sharing of best practices; Benchmarking site performance vs other sites / companies to set appropriate Operational Performance ambition.
- Facilitate problem solving, Accelerators, Kaizen Events, and DMAIC workshops.
- Facilitate project team meetings to oversee the planning and execution of project activities to ensure alignment with the expectations and timelines.
- Partner proactively with team members to identify risks, gaps, and resource bottlenecks and then develop and implement mitigation plans.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and collaborate across functions.
- Measure project performance versus plan and milestones using appropriate systems, tools and techniques including but not limited to dashboards, metrics.
- Effectively communicate the status and risks ensuring internal stakeholder accountability and awareness.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.
Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Life Science, Quality, or Logistics.
- 5+ years manufacturing environment
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean bronze level certifications.

Convergix Automation Solutions is looking for a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP PMO, Continuous Improvement and Quality, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and executing Continuous Improvement activities within the Convergix suite of companies utilizing Lean Six Sigma Tools. You will manage cross-functional teams to successfully complete these initiatives. Additionally, you will facilitate for targeted actives in support of the business including but not limited to; lessons learned, value-stream mapping, rapid improvement Kaizen events and identifying and eliminating barriers to continuous improvements.
What would a typical day look like?
- Assist in the prioritization of initiatives
- Establish measurement criteria, quantify targeted results, and identify anticipated benefits
- Improve processes by eliminating waste
- Maintain Convergix database of continuous improvement initiatives
- Generating clear problem statements/gap analyses
- Identifying actionable metrics and benchmarks to track improvements
- Training and empowering each team to lead projects and work to share best practices with other Business Units
- Providing motivation, a sense of urgency, focus, and direction to team members
- Preparing and presenting regular updates summarizing project results
- Evaluating and ensuring project effectiveness
- Meet annual targets or project specific goals for cost savings that exceed this position’s annual overhead costs
- Train others (managers and individual contributors) in Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies with emphasis on problem identification, establishing base lines, and root cause analysis.
- Coach/mentor individuals at all levels of the company who are engaged in process improvement, problem identification and solution implementation.
- Look for and anticipate the need for improvement and serve as a catalyst for change.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships across all business functions and all levels of the organization
- Lead teams in troubleshooting and resolution of machines / systems failing to meet the contracted acceptance criteria
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds – This will be role specific so ask Manager if they would like this to be included.
What qualifies you for this opportunity?
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience deploying Lean Six Sigma, including experience in both direct and indirect (transactional) processes
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification required
- Have led at least 10 continuous improvement projects and/or formal Kaizen events
- Must have the ability to become proficient in company systems, processes, and tools
- Experience in custom engineered solution businesses as well as factory automation is ideal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and MiniTab, experience with LeanDNA preferred
- 3+ years supervisory experience preferred
- Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Lean Six Sigma Black Belts should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada
- Travel for this opportunity will be approximately 50% depending on the successful candidate’s proximity to Convergix Business Units
