YOUR ROLE
Responsible for providing more comprehensive to specialized logistics and transportation engineering functions, assisting with serving as a lead to staff and leading or coordinating various projects or functions. Perform activities that involve the application of more comprehensive to specialized engineering principles and practices, develop metrics and proposals and coordinate internal resources as required. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Assist with training and developing engineering staff to include on the job training, reviewing work and studies, and assisting with feedback.
- Perform more comprehensive engineering analytics and system reviews, such as collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data, forecasts and related information.
- Develop proposals or reports to outline current or proposed engineered designs, layouts, capacity, equipment, and operations; operations are more comprehensive in nature.
- Prepare presentations for senior management regarding recommendations of studies and projects; may assist with presenting information.
- Coordinate cost models, assumptions and risks for projects that are typically larger in scope.
- Lead and/or develop standard operating procedures, work instructions and related materials.
- Coordinate the planning or outline of work, time, and efficiency studies, talk with supervisors and employees, and discuss with customers to apply and monitor operations.
- Identify and deliver on project milestones, communicate with stakeholders, remove complex obstacles and ensure a variety of resources are available.
- Ensure processes and operations comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations; seek advice and interpretation when required and apply across operations.
- Develop specialized or more comprehensive metrics and goals for programs, oversee performance, and work with staff when potential problems are identified to bring to resolution.
- Coordinate internal resources to respond to internal or external customer requests, such as gathering, analyzing and summarizing information.

- Able to communicate specialized engineering and operational information and facilitate communication cross customers, operations and other groups. Ability to identify and communicate potential operational or analytical concerns and facilitate change management.
- Operates in both a team and individual contributor environment.
- Capable of developing and delivering engineering reports and presentations.
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
- Typically, at least five years of experience, including some specialized or complex work.
- Professional certification may be required in some areas.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in related field.

**JOB SUMMARY:** Direct the Quality and Continuous Improvement Process for the GPI facility. This involves the development, implementation and preservation of the validity of the Quality System, the proper allocation of available capital to equipment and processes which move the business forward and the identification of personnel training requirements relative to new equipment and processes. The major objective is to improve the people and processes to remove cost from the system and to improve our product quality so that we are more competitive in the marketplace and our business grows. They understand and align business operations and the Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
**JOB FUNCTIONS:** _Job functions include, but are not limited to the following_ _._
+ Meet and maintain all divisional Quality Process Management objectives as established by GPI.
+ Direct the activities, duties, and projects of the QC and Lab Technicians to assure compliance to customer specifications.
+ Serve as the plant's contact for customer complaints and customer compliance audits. Maintain reporting systems for internal and external complaints within SAP in accordance with GPI requirements.
+ Direct the development of SPC in both production and QC areas necessary to maintain a level of process control that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
+ Execute and manage CI initiatives including Six Sigma, Process Improvement, and Lean projects. Track and report all financial validated savings through the GPI Project Tracking Database.
+ Communicate plant quality expectations and monitor performance relative to the objectives in a timely and effective manner.
+ Actively solicit input from all employees to aid in successfully accomplishing the above listed actions.
+ Shared responsibility for compliance with all facility product safety (GMP's)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of companywide product stewardship standards.
+ Be trained and certified in SQF and HACCP for Lead Practitioner within the plant.
+ Be knowledgeable concerning SQF prerequisites to include SQF, HACCP, GMP, Food Defense, etc.
+ Is responsible for the development, implementation, review, maintenance, and communications of the most recent version of SQF CODE.
+ Leads and coordinates the annual plant review of the SQF system, internal audits, and scheduling the annual third-party audit.
+ Is responsible for contacting the third -party certification body with a list of dates and justification of any blackout dates for the unannounced audit. (Submission must be 1 month prior to the sixty-day re-certification window).
+ Is responsible for coordination of SQF related Root Cause/Corrective Action activities.
+ Performs verifications and validation of SQF controls with a determined frequency/schedule.
+ Establishes and maintains methods/criteria for monitoring, sampling, inspection, testing, and analyzing raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods.
+ Is responsible for reviewing and updating training skills requirements for SQF for all onsite personnel.
+ This position has full responsibility for the development and maintenance of SQF-related documents and records.

**BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:**
+ Manufacturing experience required
+ Must be a certified Six Sigma Black Belt or attain certification as part of selection for this position preferred
+ Participates in Six Sigma projects as necessary.

+ Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, develop, implement and document systems for maintenance and control of products and processes.

**Job Purpose and Impact**
The Manufacturing Technology-Continuous Improvement Lead will provide technical subject matter expertise for manufacturing technology design standards, process capabilities, hazard analysis, performance monitoring, technical training and significant improvements for business processes. In this role, you will provide governance for the design standards across the engineering disciplines.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Deploy and develop standard operating processes and technical content across engineering disciplines for a given manufacturing technology and translate requirements in technology transfer packages and also be responsible for risk management.
- Support the development of technical education content and administer training of the technical competencies and minimum standards that must be achieved.
- Analyze plant performance metrics for a specific manufacturing technology and identify gaps in standards and implement improvements into design standards and technology transfer packages.
- Establish, advise and oversee auditing and compliance governance for the manufacturing technology.
- Stay informed on emerging technology developments in the industry and incorporate into the design requirements to ensure process designs maintain their capability to deliver the products or services to meet market requirements and internal or external risk tolerances and standards to reduce costs.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

- Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six sigma experience.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for engineering related tasks within the discipline of the hiring department under the guidance of more senior department personnel. Utilizes learned skills to assist the production department to become more efficient.
