**Role Synopsis:**
+ The Investigation and Learning Manager will be leading the investigation and learning team. The investigators are responsible for leading investigations to identify root causes to deliver high-quality corrective actions that impact organizational learning. The Organization Learning team is mainly responsible for ensuring systematic, compliant and sustainable implementation of learnings and lessons identified either from bpx or from external sources.
+ The ideal candidate will lead incident reporting and investigations process across all aspects of the business and operations. Additionally, they will liaise with bpx central and business unit staff to share learnings from completed investigations, incident trends, and reporting trends and/or from external sources.
+ Strong communication skills are required to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. The Investigation and Learning Manager must possess the ability to lead a diverse team of experienced investigation and learning advisors and a problem solver who works on multiple activities with constantly changing demands and deadlines. Continuous improvement is a priority, and the Investigation and Learning Manager collaborates with the team to think critically.
+ The position will report to the Head of Safety. Systems and Risk.
**Key Accountabilities:**
+ Lead Major Incident investigations
+ Investigations will include but are not limited to traveling to the incident scene, conducting human factors-focused interviews, analyzing data, developing recommendations, reporting findings to senior leaders, and writing detailed technical reports.
+ Be the first point of contact for businesses to assist with incident notification, investigation, and learning activities within bpx
+ Provide assurance of investigation quality and efficiency of significant incident investigations. Intervene as vital to drive consistently high-quality incident investigations
+ Own and drive investigation & learning quality and capability in bpx
+ Coach, mentor, train and assess all investigators and learning leads within bpx to develop and maintain competencies.
+ Identify insights and recommendations from incident investigations that inform bpx, and where applicable wider BP, action to reduce the risk of incidents and strengthen bpx operations.
+ Assist in the implementation of the investigation training process within BPX Energy.
+ Own bpx Incident Reporting and Investigation Policy, the bpx Investigation Standard Operating Procedure, and the bpx Organizational Learning Standard Operating Procedure.
+ Provide investigative support to field investigators throughout bpx energy.
+ Track the progress of corrective actions, which includes assuring corrective actions relating to investigations are completed in a timely and successful manner.
+ Confirm reporting and archiving of investigations records.
+ Facilitate and improve learning processes in bpx, including oversight of learning forums to ensure systematic, compliant and sustainable implementation of lessons identified.
+ Identify emerging risks from bpx investigations to ensure risk mitigation is occurring in all relevant areas of bpx Energy.
+ Ensure the development of Learning Summary documents for non-safety-related learnings across the organization.
+ Ensure incident-related learnings are embedded in bpx Energy and shared with BP Group, as necessary.
+ Ensure the development of Organizational Learning materials, such as Flash Call presentations, Safety Alerts, Safety Action Messages, etc. and deliver of Monthly Learnings within bpx's business units.
+ Embrace digital and contribute to the development of investigation processes, training resources and tools to support and improve bp incident investigation capability and simplify investigation processes.
+ Drive Continuous Improvement of Incident Investigation and Organizational Learning processes, training, and supporting tools within bpx energy.
**Essential Education**
+ Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or sciences or 10 years of operational/HSE&C experience in the oil and gas industry.

  • Partner with Learning & Development leadership during the development of programs, TTT, and deployment of programs to the Boutiques, Retail Partners, Client Relations Center and Corporate Teams
  • Facilitate programs and trainings for the corporate audience and flex to support training in the Commercial market as needed (i.e. Instructor-led, Webinar, TTT, in Boutique, etc.)
  • Clearly and concisely present ideas to internal business partners
  • Utilize InDesign and the Adobe Creative Applications as well as Articulate and Captivate to develop and format programs

3. Project Management

  • Ensure timely completion of all development stages and final roll out of complex programs and learning projects, leveraging project management expertise; plan, prioritize and organize work to meet development and launch dates

As an Instructional Design Specialist, you’ll play a key role in developing engaging, innovative, and effective learning experiences that support employee performance and business goals. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and other instructional designers to design and develop training content in various formats, including e-learning, videos, instructor-led training, and more.


Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm (6-month contract, with the potential of extension or full-time hire)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop learning content using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Captivate.
  • Create training materials including eLearning modules, virtual and in-person instructor-led presentations, job aids, and infographics.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content, define learning objectives, and ensure course accuracy.
  • Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) to produce effective, learner-centered content.
  • Support the development of multimedia assets and interactive learning components, including video, audio, and graphics.
  • Review and update existing learning content to ensure relevance, clarity, and consistency with current standards.
  • Assist with uploading and testing learning content in the LMS.
  • Monitor effectiveness through surveys, feedback, and other evaluation methods.
  • Stay up to date with trends in learning technology, instructional design, and adult learning theory.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Instructional Design Tools: Proficient in Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, and Vyond
  • Graphic & Multimedia Design: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva, and Figma
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS): Experience uploading and managing content in platforms such as Cornerstone, Docebo, or similar SCORM-compliant LMS
  • Authoring & Content Standards: Knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, and HTML5-based course development
  • Project Management: Comfortable using tools like Asana, Trello, or Monday.com to manage tasks and timelines
  • Audio/Video Editing: Basic editing capabilities for instructional videos and voiceover content
  • Assessment Tools: Ability to design knowledge checks, quizzes, and evaluation surveys to assess learning outcomes
  • Data Analysis: Familiar with collecting and interpreting feedback and training metrics to assess course effectiveness
  • UI/UX Awareness: Understanding of user interface and experience principles for accessible and inclusive learning
  • Emerging Technology: Awareness of trends in VR/AR, microlearning, and AI-driven learning experiences


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning & Development, Communications, or a related field required
  • 2–4 years of professional experience designing and developing training content for adult learners
  • Proven experience creating eLearning modules, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and blended learning solutions
  • Hands-on experience with authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, or Adobe Captivate
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and experience publishing SCORM-compliant content
  • Working knowledge of instructional design models and methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy)
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to translate complex topics into clear, engaging learning content
  • Exposure to graphic design or video production is a plus
