About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Psychology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Vyond, Camtasia) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in facilitating trainings (virtually/in-person)
  • Has a knack for project management, is able to move projects forward despite ambiguity, and can effectively prioritize activities with little direction and in a fast-paced organization
  • Proven ability to measure training programs through evaluations and appropriate data

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for experienced Learning Specialists and Special Educators with a master's degree or above to provide 1:1 instruction for students two times a week per student. We are looking for part-time providers for this upcoming school year 2024-25 with the possibility for daytime, afternoon, and weekend hours depending on what is needed.

We are looking for educators with experience with teaching remotely and educators who will come onsite to Northside Center to deliver learning support in person after school to our onsite students.

Applicants must be familiar with best practices and evidence-based methods for reading, writing, and executive functioning. Applicants should be able to integrate academic standards for reading comprehension and writing into their sessions. Applicants with math experience as well plus and necessary for our upper grades. Learning specialists will be responsible for progress notes, case management reports, and student program assessments, attending staff and supervision meetings, educational advocacy screening, and parent engagement meetings.

Applicants who are highly collaborative and have experience with high need students are desirable. We work with a wide range of vulnerable deserving students who experience varied learning disabilities and mental health challenges. Our staff is a dedicated team who embraces the mission of inspiring and empowering our students. Our program has an educational advocacy focus in addition to individualized academic remediation.

Responsibilities

The following are the major/essential functions and duties of the Learning Specialist position:

  • Develop, coordinate and implement individualized academic support plans for identified student-athletes, including the assessment and evaluation of individual student-athletes to identify learning needs and additional academic support;
  • Conduct one-on-one and/or group academic meetings with assigned caseload of student-athletes emphasizing teaching and learning strategies while addressing academic concerns as needed;
  • Provide individualized instruction in areas requiring academic enhancement and development (i.e. reading comprehension, writing, study skills);
  • Collaborate with the Director of Football Academics on course and major selection based on strengths, weaknesses, and identified goals;
  • Collaborate with other Learning Specialists on a weekly basis in order to continually evaluate and grow Learning Support Services for all student-athletes;
  • Oversee required study hall for assigned caseload of student-athletes;
  • Assist the Tutorial Program Coordinator in coordinating tutorial support for assigned caseload of student-athletes;
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Psychology & Wellness as well as members of the Center for Disability & Access to identify student-athletes with learning needs while assisting in the process of obtaining accommodations where permitted;
  • Work as an integral team member of a progressive Athletics Academic Services team to provide industry leading and coordinated support services for all student-athletes;
  • Oversee the daily completion of academic reports for football student-athletes to be shared with the Director of Football Academics, the Football Academic Coordinator, and football coaches detailing daily academic progress;
  • Maintain student-athlete files and records while collecting necessary data and documenting interactions with student-athletes;
  • When required, meet with prospects and parents during on-campus recruiting visits to discuss and review the philosophy of athletics academic support services;
  • Utilize a variety of programming to assist in daily job duties (i.e. TeamWorks, GradesFirst, Box, Civitas, etc);

Position Summary

As part of the Professional Development team, the Learning Specialist delivers technical learning programs on a variety of topics offered to GT attorneys and staff, including regular New Hire Onboarding. Learning Specialists collaborates with instructional designers, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and project teams to create, design, and develop job aides, quick reference cards, guides and other resources used when conducting instructor-led programs. This is a hybrid role requiring local in-office presence several times a week. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers learning programs for attorneys and staff on the firms core technical applications. Training delivery formats include in-person classroom, virtual training, and one-on-one instruction
  • Regularly facilitates Global New Hire Onboarding for the North American offices
  • Effectively uses the firms virtual platforms to ensure the learning environment is engaging; working in conjunction with other members of the learning team as needed to keep up with the new features of the virtual platforms
  • Serves as training lead where project management skills will be required to coordinate efforts and resources within the Professional Development team as part of a larger project team
  • Works with instructional designers to ensure firm-branded templates are used and that deliverables are reviewed for quality assurance prior to implementation
  • Builds relationships with various stakeholders in the US offices to understand their business objectives and align training efforts
  • Designs and develops world-class engaging programs and curricula for their offices as needed; define objectives, outline course content and exercises, develop content, assessments and supporting materials for learning efforts
  • Partners with regional human resource professionals, business directors or operational department heads to conduct needs analysis to recommend and implement appropriate learning programs to address skill gaps and provide feedback to management
  • Teams up with software rollout teams by participating in pilot orientation sessions, conducting testing and reporting results, soliciting feedback from pilot users, and compiling statistics of overall pilot results
  • Generates class rosters, reports, and updates attendance in GTs Learning Management System
  • Provides metrics on learning programs as requested
  • Stays up to date with industry and field current trends
  • Performs other job-related duties as required

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven proficiency in delivering technology training programs in-person and virtually
  • Strong technical and project management skills
  • Ability to establish credibility with client base as a valuable resource and consultant in technical training and applications
  • Must be proficient in the application of instructional design
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in the English language

Education & Prior Experience

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Learning Specialist to join the Global Learning Strategy team. In this role, you'll support the design, delivery, and administration of programs while ensuring a seamless learning experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to design, create, and maintain learning modules across multiple modalities (e.g., eLearnings, instructor-led, etc.)
  • Coordinate and maintain programs, including participant communication, scheduling, and program materials management
  • Manage program logistics, including securing training spaces and coordinating participant access to facilities
  • Process and maintain accurate participant rosters and records
  • Prepare and organize training materials, including printing, copying, and document assembly
  • Communicate effectively with program participants regarding schedules, locations, and pre-work requirements
  • Track and manage training supply inventory
  • Assist in creation of PowerPoint presentations on project status

Overview

Touro University Nevada (TUN) seeks a personable, adaptable, and goal-driven professional for the Learning Specialist position within the Office of Academic Services and Institutional Support (OASIS). This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Director of OASIS. In addition to OASIS specific responsibilities, the Learning Specialist will work collaboratively with the other departments housed in the Division of Student Affairs, as well as with university faculty and the academic programs. The Learning Specialist provides services directly to students that maximize the success, retention, and graduation of College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) and College of Health & Human Services (CHHS) students. These services include developing learning strategies and solutions for adult learners in graduate professional programs. The Learning Specialist works directly with students who are challenged by their coursework, testing, and board exams and provides remedial assistance to understand and overcome their deficits. Students self-refer and are referred by faculty. In addition to one-on-one advising, the Learning Specialist delivers workshops and provides workshops on learning strategies, study skills, test-taking skills, time management and other topics related to academic outcomes. Learning Specialists also refer students to Touro's peer tutoring, study hall sessions, writing assistance, and accommodation services which are supervised and managed by OASIS. The successful candidate must also demonstrate dedication to the University's core values of intellectual pursuit and service to humanity through their work.

Responsibilities

  1. Meets with students individually to assess their needs so that students may be more successful in their academic journeys. Student needs may include, but are not limited to the following:
    1. Strategies to improve study skills, study efficiency, test taking skills, time management skills.
    2. Continued monitoring of student progress with suggested strategies as well as academic performance.
    3. Work with students to develop strategies to efficiently research sources, use APA writing techniques, including how to improve or adapt their own strategies for different assignments and courses.
    4. Referral to additional services if needed, which may include tutoring, counseling services, disability accommodations or additional outside resources. Capacity to determine if and what services may be needed.
    5. Prepare and discuss with students high stakes decisions from programs which may include failure to pass board examinations, taking a leave of absence (LOA), or dismissal from their program.
  1. Act as a backup for the ADA Learning Specialist.
  2. Complete AHEAD ADA training to assist the ADA Learning Specialist.
  3. Meet with students submitting requests and process requests for accommodations.
  4. Document individual meetings with students.
  5. Manage individual schedule around student meetings and other scheduled commitments.
  6. Ability to review learning science research and apply it to student needs.
  7. Develop and deliver workshops for current and prospective students.
  8. Work with the OASIS Department to help in our areas of oversight such as tutoring.
  9. Assist faculty and staff in the COM and CHHS to identify students who need writing, counseling, or other referrals.
  10. Attend meetings and events as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director.
  11. Attend and participate as needed in division, department and University meetings, committees, and events such as White Coat, Commencement, and University events.
  12. Engage in professional development through reading research, attending campus presentations, and participating in conferences for further professional and personal growth.
  13. Uphold policies and procedures in the university catalog and program handbooks.
  14. Provide exceptional service and be able to articulate the mission and values of Touro University Nevada of social justice, intellectual pursuit, and service to humanity through their work.
  15. Show a capacity to support and celebrate students from a variety of identities (race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, sex, age, etc.
  16. Ability to work flexible hours intermittently, such as evenings and Sundays, for special events.
  17. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education:
  • Master's degree required (Science, Health Science, Social Science, Educational Psychology, Education, or related field with a concentration in adult learning)

  • Experience in higher education, preferably student or human services
