The Learning Specialist is responsible for the delivery of learning activities focused on standard new hire training and other training activities. This may include sales, management and professional development for our employees. This role has an impact on our global training programs, new hire performance, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development. The salary range for this position is starting at $55,000.
What You'll Do:
- Demonstrates excellent facilitation skills and a passion for delivering high impact learning sessions
- Ability to influence others, drive a strong learning agenda and partner with business leaders
- Facilitate the integration of content with the knowledge and experience of the learners
- Act as a learning expert after training to reinforce concepts and effective application of methodology
- Partner with business leaders to identify capability gaps and opportunities for business improvement and personal development
- Leverage blended learning approaches and delivery recommendations to meet learning requirements for ongoing development and maturity of the organization, ensuring they are aligned to wider organization goals
- Ensure best practice approach to learning and development across all Global Learning initiatives
- Collaborate with Global Learning team, as assigned, on various projects and learning activities
- Assist in providing support for new-hire classes in relation to technical/logon issues during training
- Ensure consistency in following new-hire agenda and promoting engagement in virtual new-hire training
- Provide training across the organization in RAC/HLE/Customer Care and other areas, as assigned and trained
- Evaluate training solutions to assess impact of learning programs in terms of learning on the job and ROI
What We're Looking For:
- 2 years' experience in Learning and Development or related training background experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Education, or other related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, travel required up to 25% (as needed onsite trainings and team meetings)
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions and locations
- Ability to influence
- Flexible and adaptable; ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to drive process and organizational change
- Ability to motivate teams and keep a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment

The Learning Specialist will play a leadership role in the efforts to coordinate and promote cross-departmental learning resources as well as to establish new resources for students, faculty, and staff.The Learning Specialist will plan and execute outreach initiatives to promote and support in the delivery of learning support resources to various campus stakeholders. This position reports to the Director of the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility in co-ordination with the Executive Director for Campus Accessibility & ADA/504 Coordinator.
As an equal priority, the Learning Specialist will work with the other staff members at the Goldman Center to facilitate the provision of reasonable accommodations services to students, with an emphasis on supporting the academic achievement and persistence of Tulane University students with learning disabilities (LD) and/or Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD) who participate in these services. The students served by this position have complex and varying needs.Support of these students requires the expertise and teaching skills required to address particular academic challenges common to LD and/or ADHD.This position also requires the ability to address challenges that arise when those disabilities are impacted by other developmental and educational factors. In this capacity, the person in this position will work individually with students and in a group setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong interpersonal communication skills, as well as excellent written and oral presentation skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with various stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
Extensive experience teaching academic skills to individuals with LD and/or ADHD in an educational setting.
Understanding of the research and evidence-based approaches concerning young adults with LD and/or ADHD, including: executive functioning, self-regulated learning, self-determination, metacognition, and common co-morbidities.
Working knowledge of the laws related to disabilities in higher education.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work or related field
2 years' experience working with students who have learning differences.Professional training in the identification and remediation of learning and other disabilities in an educational setting
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education, Special education, or Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 26. The Learning Specialist is responsible for the delivery of learning activities focused on standard new hire training and other training activities. This may include sales, management and professional development for our employees. This role has an impact on our global training programs, new hire performance, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development. The salary range for this position is starting at $55,000.
What You'll Do:
- Demonstrates excellent facilitation skills and a passion for delivering high impact learning sessions
- Ability to influence others, drive a strong learning agenda and partner with business leaders
- Facilitate the integration of content with the knowledge and experience of the learners
- Act as a learning expert after training to reinforce concepts and effective application of methodology
- Partner with business leaders to identify capability gaps and opportunities for business improvement and personal development
- Leverage blended learning approaches and delivery recommendations to meet learning requirements for ongoing development and maturity of the organization, ensuring they are aligned to wider organization goals
- Ensure best practice approach to learning and development across all Global Learning initiatives
- Collaborate with Global Learning team, as assigned, on various projects and learning activities
- Assist in providing support for new-hire classes in relation to technical/logon issues during training
- Ensure consistency in following new-hire agenda and promoting engagement in virtual new-hire training
- Provide training across the organization in RAC/HLE/Customer Care and other areas, as assigned and trained
- Evaluate training solutions to assess impact of learning programs in terms of learning on the job and ROI
What We're Looking For:
- 2 years' experience in Learning and Development or related training background experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Education, or other related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, travel required up to 25% (as needed onsite trainings and team meetings)
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions and locations

Job Description
As a Learning Specialist, you'll be tasked with implementing and evaluating a mentoring and coaching program designed to assist students who face academic challenges. Your responsibilities will include providing counseling and support to these student-athletes, organizing and assessing the effectiveness of the program, and collaborating closely with various community stakeholders such as the Associate Athletics Director of Academic Services, Deans, staff and faculty.
To excel in this role, you'll need a strong educational background. Additionally, extensive knowledge of learning concepts and educational theory will be essential for designing effective support strategies. Your interpersonal skills will play a crucial role in providing the necessary guidance and assistance to students, and strong communication skills will be vital for conveying information effectively to both students and other stakeholders.
Moreover, your ability to think critically and collaborate effectively will enable you to assess the needs of students and tailor support programs accordingly. Proficiency in computer technology will also be valuable for implementing digital resources and tools to enhance the learning experience. Overall, your role as a Learning Specialist will be pivotal in ensuring that student-athletes receive the support they need to succeed academically within the university environment.
Responsibilities- Provide intensive academic support and learning assistance to specific student-athletes (e.g. individual study skills instruction).
- Coordinate the Academic Tutoring Program for student-athletes: hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating tutors.
- Coordinate the Academic Mentoring Program: hiring, training, and evaluating Academic Mentors.
- Conduct intake assessments on student-athletes to identify areas of academic strengths and weaknesses.
- Teach a Summer section of USU 1730, Strategies for Academic Success.
- Work collaboratively with student services departments (e.g. Disability Resource Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, Academic Success Center, etc.), faculty, and other campus personnel to obtain resources and services for student-athletes.
- Provide consistent and frequent feedback to Academic Coordinators concerning the progress of identified student-athletes.
- Evaluate and assess learning programs on frequent basis.
- Other duties as assigned by Associate AD of Student-Athlete Academic Services.
- Provide learning assistance as needed on evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Strong commitment to academic and personal integrity.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching or counseling a culturally diverse population at the university or high school level.
- Knowledge of disability regulations and laws associated in higher education.
- Experience working with student-athlete populations at the university level in an academic capacity.
- Experience teaching learning strategies and developing academic intervention strategies at a university level to enhance learning for academically under-prepared students and students with learning disabilities.
