Job Summary The Associate Director of Learning Support leads a team of Course Managers. The Associate Director collaborates with Gies College of Business instructional faculty and staff to ensure high-quality learning experiences. Expertise in effective pedagogy, engagement, and learning theory to support high-quality teaching. Ensures that courses meet quality standards and program goals, and provides an excellent experience for instructors, staff, and learners.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervision and Coordination

  • Lead staff with expertise in effective pedagogy, learner engagement, and supporting learners, in collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts.
  • Manage Course Manager (CM) staff.
  • Plan and allocate work for CM staff and ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate and facilitate effective communication with course support staff, accessibility specialists, digital media professionals, and learning design staff for course delivery.
  • Develop professional development plans for direct reports and track progress.
  • Collect data and generate reports on workflows and production based on leadership priorities and metrics.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Learning Support to create and manage training processes, resources, and documentation for course support staff.
  • Facilitate a positive community for course support staff.

Standards and Process Management

  • Establish, promote, implement, and improve course support standards and processes.
  • Document and ensure documentation standards are followed by all.
  • Coordinate documentation and workflow development using best practices.
  • Monitor adherence to standards and processes across the CM sub-unit.
  • Assist in resolving practical issues related to applying standards and processes.

Teaching and Learning Support

  • Monitor learner experiences using new and current technologies and provide feedback and recommendations to other sub-units in Teaching & Learning as appropriate.
  • Collaborate in managing documentation and resolving support requests from learners, faculty, and staff during course delivery.
  • Collect regular reports and participate in meetings to inform recommendations and address learner concerns.
  • Serve as a contact for instructors to handle course-related learner concerns and coordinate with Student and Academic Success leadership when needed.

Curriculum and Long-Range Project Planning

  • Ensure adherence to course delivery timelines and communicate expectations to direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Gies' course portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Project Management staff, Content and Educational Portfolio Strategy, and Teaching & Learning supervisors to plan course support for upcoming programs, courses, and projects.

Other

  • Represent Teaching & Learning within the College, across campus, and with other institutions.
  • Serve on committees as needed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Specialty Factors

  • Bachelors degree in education, business, or a closely related field.
  • A total of five (5) years of work experience in the field of education, business, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising a team of education professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Masters degree or higher from an accredited institution in education, business, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting learning experiences for large enrollment courses (e.g. 1000+ enrollments) with an emphasis on learner engagement, inclusivity, and accessibility.
  • Experience with mentoring and coaching staff to performance standards and professional development.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Management experience in higher education.
  • Management in a dispersed team environment.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after search close date. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience while considering internal equity. The budgeted salary for this position is $74,000 to $8,000.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused individual to join our team as a Senior Student Support. This role is essential in supporting students and academic advisors by providing clerical and front-line services that enhance the student experience.


Key Responsibilities:
Provide clerical support to students.
Clearly explain academic policies, procedures, and information to students.
Manage the daily Zoom advising waiting room to ensure smooth virtual appointment flow.
Assist students and advisors with in-person walk-in appointments.
Support the planning and execution of student events such as orientation, major/minor fairs, and graduation ceremonies.
Collaborate with advisors on special projects, including outreach to students on academic probation.
Handle incoming phone calls and greet walk-in visitors with professionalism and care.
