Develop strategies and processes to assess operational risks within the law firm management program and assist in overseeing mitigation efforts and management of issues to resolution.
7. Draft outside counsel guidelines and related policies/procedures.
8. Collaborate with Legal Department and functional areas leaders across the enterprise to address needs for legal counsel and onboard new law firms and legal-related vendors.
9. Stay abreast of industry trends related to law firm management operations.
10. Support and lead ad-hoc projects related to law firm management operations.

Job Description
The Manager, Outside Counsel Management focuses on programs and business processes designed to maximize the value AbbVie's outside law firms and legal vendors provide. This role will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the outside counsel management function and interact with legal professionals at all levels at AbbVie to ensure smooth functioning of processes from law firm/vendor selection, through onboarding, matter management and review.
The ideal candidate will have legal industry experience either in the finance, pricing or legal project management functions of law firms or in legal operations and outside counsel management in a large corporate legal department. This role requires strong problem-solving and communication skills as well as a customer-service mindset. The role will work cross-functionally with AbbVie's legal operations technology, IT and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the outside counsel management team (e.g., manage communications with law firms, resolve issues related to fee agreements, rates, guideline compliance, etc.).
+ Monitor and report on legal spend and matter management, including tracking overall department spend levels, performance against budget, matter staffing, etc.
+ Manage annual rate review process by overseeing the collection and analysis of rate proposals, and providing recommendations on rate approvals.
+ Support the RFP process, managing communications with firms and vendors; collection of information and analysis of proposals
+ Support the use of alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) by providing data-driven analysis to support AFA negotiations.
+ Partner with Legal Ops Innovation team, Finance, IT, and vendors to identify and implement improvements in business processes
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree; specific project management or business training/certifications preferred
+ 5+ years legal operations experience, or experience in law firm finance, pricing or legal project management
+ Strong analytical and problem solving ability; ability to navigate demands of multiple stakeholders and recommend solutions
+ Strong communication skills (written and oral)

Position Description:
As a Legal Assistant (Management Analyst I), you will support the DOJ's Executive Office for Immigration Review, specifically supporting the New York, NY Immigration Court, in a fast-paced environment. This role involves extensive administrative tasks, close interaction with the public, attorneys, and U.S. Immigration Judges. Responsibilities include managing case information, coordinating with various agencies, handling court documents, schedules, and mail, and assisting U.S. Immigration Judges in court. This position offers a non-negotiable hourly rate of $24.50.
This position is located in 26 Federal Plaza, New York NY or 201 Varick Street, NY.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Respond to inquiries and manage case information
- Provide administrative assistance to U.S. Immigration Judges, court management, and support staff
- Communicate with the Department of Homeland Security, Private Bar Attorneys, and other federal immigration agencies
- Answer and transfer telephone calls
- Review and process legal documents and correspondence
- Manage court calendars and prepare orders and hearing notices
- Sort and distribute filings and mail
- Assist U.S. Immigration Judges in court hearings
- Provide excellent customer service
- Assemble and maintain Records of Proceedings (ROP)
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
U.S. Citizenship required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience as an administrative assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, program assistant, customer service role, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. and perform filing tasks
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Moderate Risk Public Trust Security Clearance
- Successful completion of a CGI Background Investigation, including checks on criminal history, education, employment, credit, and driving records
- Work schedule is 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours, subject to court operational needs)

Hourly Rate: 24.50/hour

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
