**Job Description**
The Deputy Director provides daily oversight to the special police and contracted security officers on campus. This is accomplished by supervising field operations; performing investigations; scheduling and directing of all officers; event operations planning; performing all duties required of an officer; and serving in the capacity of Acting Director when required.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

**Required Education**
+ High school diploma or GED
+ Current or prior MPCTC law enforcement certification or an equivalent certification from another state

+ Minimum three (3) years of experience supervising law enforcement officers

**Position Summary:**
Reports to the chief of security. Directly supervises assigned sergeants. Responsible for the custody and discipline of inmates in the facility in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.
**Essential Functions:**
1. Serve as shift supervisor.
2. Conduct shift briefings.
3. Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees and inmates; schedule employees' and inmates' work and off-duty time; assist in formulating security and work procedures.
4. Supervise and provide custody and security of inmates including observation of inmates and inmates assigned to work duty, which includes climbing stairs, long periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
5. Supervise and direct searches for contraband including 'pat' and 'strip' searches by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
6. Transfer and transport inmates by walking or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive inmates as needed.
7. Read, review and properly apply information found in inmate records which is related to the inmates' health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
8. Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms and reports.
9. Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: housing unit, restrictive housing unit and intake.
10. Respond to emergencies to search for inmates, hearing calls for and calling for help, administer first aid at the emergency site, carry an injured or unconscious offender, and use force, including chemical agents and firearms in accordance with company policy and agency regulations.
11. Read, review and properly apply information found in offender records which is related to the offenders' health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information as needed to other personnel and maintain confidentiality.
12. Prepare and complete required reports and logs in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of corrections experience in an adult correctional environment or related field required, one (1) of which must be in a supervisory capacity. Summary:

The Fire Lieutenant is responsible for supervising and training a fire company, directing firefighting operations, overseeing equipment maintenance, and assisting in fire prevention and community risk reduction programs.
