Fire And Life Safety Technician

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Fire And Life Safety Technician at the Daytona Beach campus. Under the direction of Fire And Life Safety Specialist, the Fire And Life Safety Technician ensures the repair, maintenance and testing of all fire, intrusion, life safety systems and elevator (systems) meet college expectations. This position receives and evaluates work orders and other requests and investigates and troubleshoots the issues involved. Additionally, the Fire And Life Safety Technician will make necessary repairs as needed and may assist other departments with wiring or installations within license authority.

Responsibilities include:

  • Service and maintain fire systems on campus.
  • Service and maintain the emergency phones on campus.
  • Keep current on fire safety systems and laws related to them.
  • Help coordinate the service and maintenance of elevators and related systems.
  • Service and maintain exit and emergency lights.

Beyond financial oversight, the position demands a strong technical leader who will provide essential expertise, strategic direction, and ultimate accountability for all installed projects and ongoing technical support programs, ensuring high-quality delivery and operational excellence.
**As a Fire/Life Safety Operations Supervisor, you will:**
+ Promote and ensure implementation of productivity tools, standards, and best practices.
+ Hire, supervise, train, and mentor the team through goal setting, performance monitoring, employee review meetings, and scheduling of formal training. 
+ Manage revenue, gross margin, and absorption to achieve monthly and annual business plan projections and forecasts. 
+ Direct and supervise the development of project plans to monitor and control the progress in the execution of work. 
+ Ensure schedules are maintained and projects proceed in accordance with the contract documents and customer expectations. 
+ Plan and justify manpower, staffing requirements, tools, and other appropriate investments for effective and timely execution of work. 
+ Provide technical and operational support for the sales teams with pricing and scope-of-work definition for project opportunities.   
+ Maintain relationships between engineering, operations, and sales teams so project details, changes, and plan discrepancies can be managed to minimize cost and delays throughout the estimating, bidding and operations phases of each project. 
+ Support project productivity and profitability through cost-containment procedures and process. 
+ Review customer feedback and ensure high customer satisfaction.
+ Perform installation activities where/when required.
