Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem - The employee must provide 10 shifts of availability and work 6 shifts over 3 months. Per Diem Employees must work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday along with 2 weekend shifts. All minimum shifts must be within the region applicant is hired within. Per Diems are tied only to their home region, and may choose to work dayshift, nightshift, and wherever they prefer- in terms of Station/Unit.
    • Per Diem Employees must maintain their minimum required shifts.
  • Part Time - The employee is assigned two regularly scheduled shifts per week, for a total of 4 shifts over 2 weeks, with at least 2 of the 4 shifts required to be a weekend, in the region they are hired into.
    • Part Time employees must work 24 hours per week.
  • Full Time - The employee is assigned 3 shifts a week, with weekend requirements, in the region they are hired into. This assignment consists of a Rotating Pitman schedule .
    • Full Time employees must work 36 hours per week.

We are hiring for an Advanced Life Support Instructor at Fairview Health Services to conduct life support initial and/or renewal classes at basic and advanced levels such as Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and/or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) for residents, physicians, employees, and participants from outside the organization. To maintain required certification and keep current on guidelines as published by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and/or the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).

This is a .60 FTE position (meaning 48 hours every two weeks).

This position will perform duties to support the success of the instructor team/department and teach system basic and advanced life support classes for Fairview employees across the Fairview Health System, and for outside participants to maintain certifications in accordance with published AHA, AAP, and/or ENA instructor content and guidelines.

  • Responsible for the instruction and testing of multi-disciplinary staff's knowledge and skills as it relates to required curriculum.

  • Prepares materials and completes necessary documentation for staff attending and completing classes as required by the course coordinator and/or supporting organizational guidelines.

  • Cleans, maintains and transports equipment utilized for training as needed.

  • Presents, facilitates, and evaluates psycho-motor skill stations according to the current edition of the Provider and Instructor Manuals.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a welcoming, encouraging, and professional learning environment.

  • Completes tasks as delegated by Emergency Response Department leadership team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current or previous healthcare provider experience

  • AHA Basic Life Support Instructor or Instructor Trainer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of healthcare and instructional experience

  • Current or working towards appropriate instructor certification.

Within six months of employment in the position, must obtain the certification that correlates with the course(s) the instructor provides whichch could include:

  • ACLS: AHA ACLS Instructor/Provider Card

  • PALS/PEARS: AHA PALS Instructor/Provider Card

  • NRP: AAP NRP Instructor Card

  • ENPC: ENA ENPC Certificate
