Job Title: Lift Maintenance Technician Level I
Department: Lift Maintenance
Status: Seasonal FT
Reporting To: Lift Maintenance Manager
Position Overview:
The Lift Technician at Powder Mountain plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of all ski lifts. This position involves performing preventative and operational maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating closely with other departments to uphold safety standards and deliver a positive guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all passengers that utilize Powder Mountains lifts
- Perform preventative maintenance on all facets of the ski lift system
- Being familiar with the location of all ski lifts on the mountain
- Manage maintenance tools and equipment
- Assist in daily preventative maintenance inspections
- Update maintenance procedures and maintain records
- Troubleshoot lift issues as they arrive during the operating seasons
- Perform pre-operational and operational checks during operating seasons
- Monitor moving equipment, utilizing all senses to predict potential failure
- Work closely with all-mountain operations departments
- Interact with guests in a positive and proper manner
- Maintain a culture of safety at all times
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors/managers about maintenance issues
- Other duties as assigned
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age
- Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance skills and knowledge
- Current and Valid Driver License - NO major violations on driving record
- Must be able to safely operate trucks, forklift, and snowmobiles
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces
- Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations
- Overall understanding of Powder Mountain's policies and procedures
- Ability to work at extreme heights
- Work all scheduled shift to include Holidays and weekends
- Expert-level ability skiing/snowboarding abilities

Working Environment:

- Experience in tower line work, brake systems, tension systems, motor rooms, station work, carrier maintenance, low voltage, auxiliary motors, and pre-fab.
- Knowledge of how fixed grip, detachable grip and conveyor lifts function, need to be familiar with all lift components and basic lift adjustments.
- Knowledge of fabrication (welding and torching)
- Knowledge of fall protection and climbing safety.
- Valid driver's license

They will be occasionally exposed to extreme hot/cold and wet conditions, noise, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electric shock. Employee will be required to work on uneven and limited footing locations. Working surfaces can be loose or slippery as well.
Hazardous Materials/Noise: Employee will often be in contact with hazardous substances. The noise level in the work place is usually loud.

Description
(FT Year Round Benefited Position) The Lift Maintenance Technician will participate/conduct inspections, testing, monitoring, preventative and reactive maintenance of ski lift machinery and equipment to ensure safe lift operation at all times. Applicants should have >1 year(s) of experience in aerial tramway maintenance, experience in other relevant trades may be considered.
Qualifications
Essential Functions:
- Maintain an acute safety conscious mindset as well as general situational awareness
- Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, AHJ requirements and company policy
- Preform pre-operation inspections, lift start-up and shutdown procedures
- Monitor adverse weather conditions and make appropriate operational decisions
- Able to safely work at heights >100' in adverse conditions
- Proficient with identifying ski lift components and terminology
- Identify faults on ski lifts and identify simple resolutions
- Troubleshoot basic electrical circuits using a multimeter
- Maintain proper housekeeping of all work spaces (terminals, work sites, lift shacks, shop areas etc.)
- Maintain exterior of ski lift related facilities (painting, carpentry, etc.)
- Proficient with Aerial Tramway operation while ensuring compliance with ANSI B77.1-2022
- Keep a neat appearance and maintain good personal hygiene
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Act in a professional manner at all times
- Must be able to work long hours, weekends and holidays
- Ability to learn from others
- Willingly perform any task outside normal job parameters to help the Arizona Snowbowl meet established goals, standards or timelines
