The Lighting Design Consultant focuses on providing design service for both walk-in and trade customers and is a member of our sales team.

The Senior Exterior Lighting Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and delivering exterior lighting systems for advanced EV products. Candidate will interact with studio and various engineering teams on concept and feature developments, work on integrating state-of-the-art technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver production design. Candidate will work on concept design at the studio design and modeling phase, and continue through to prototyping, production, validation, and launch. Candidate will optimize manufacturing processes and costs while also meeting regional regulatory compliance, and own the product design throughout the development cycle and deliver for all global markets.
What you'll do.
- Develop state of the art exterior lighting systems and product that meet studio aesthetic intent, and are compliant to global market regulatory requirements
- Engineer and execute exterior lighting from concept design feasibility through to production launch
- Guide cross functional integration of lighting systems with studio, vehicle engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing and software teams to achieve technically feasible designs
- Analyze, test and validation lighting system prototype and production designs from mechanical, electrical and optical perspective
- Participate in the development process with architecture, planning, supplier chain, and supplier to optimize form, function, performance and cost
- Define requirements, and specifications of exterior lighting systems to achieve Vehicle attribute targets towards structure, mass, and performance
You'll have.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in automotive lighting component and system engineering (OEM or Tier 1 level)
- 4+ years of experience utilizing CAD (3DX, Catia, NX, ICEMSURF, or Alias) collaboratively, 3DX and CATIA preferred
- 4+ years of experience in lighting systems design, development, release. Completed for one of more production launch cycles
- 3+ years of experience in lighting systems design to global regulation requirements

- Strong knowledge on homologation and photometric regulations (FMVSS 108, ECE R48, etc.) related to exterior lighting
- Strong knowledge of optical system development process, experience with optical simulation with SPEOS/Lucid Shape and other equivalents
- Successful execution of automotive lighting production programs, experience with full LED lighting systems preferred
- Excellent understanding of lighting technologies including lightguides, light blades, auto aiming, levelling, adaptive forward lighting (AFS) systems, Adaptive driving beam (ADB), Laser, OLED, Matrix, DMD, etc.
- Strong understanding of the materials and manufacturing processes such as stamping, injection molding, casting, composites, etching, PVD and other surface finishes

Involves researching defective electronically controlled various lighting equipment to include but not limited to dimmer racks, relay racks, control consoles, lighting fixtures and consoles, computers, networking equipment (ethernet switches, nodes, POE devices), DMX distribution systems (opto-splitters, mergers, terminators), wireless data transmission systems (DMX, ethernet). Apply basic electrical theory to operate, troubleshoot, and repair SCR dimmers. Instructional information to complete the repair process when needed. + Provide input and entry into the Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS) and log completion of inspections, corrective action, and/or repairs made, and list applicable parts used. Follows correct chain of command and notify appropriate management when necessary.
+ Perform modifications to the show lighting fixtures, equipment, or design as directed by the Universal Engineering/Creative/EHS/Attraction Operation departments. Utilize and update focus diagrams and technical prints to ensure proper function, output, and color temperature of each show light. + Completes PQS qualification and other job responsibility related training as assigned. Trains new technicians to do venue-specific PM work orders, recovery procedures, and processes.
+ Responds to downtimes, show element quality repairs, and ride recovery related issues in adherence with all applicable safety rules and regulations. Initiates and engages in positive interactions with internal partners.
+ Perform modifications to show lighting control code, as directed by the Universal Engineering and/or UO Creative departments. Properly document all code changes. Follows correct chain of command to notify appropriate management when necessary.
+ Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

Entry Level - $82,500K
Mid Level - $8,200 - 108,000
Sr Level - 115,200- 141,000
Ranges are per year based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401K
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations while acting as a resource and technical expert to engineers. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement and as a subject matter expert when consulted to identify and resolve equipment and system problems
- Directly fulfill engineering and technical leadership accountability regarding short-term and long-term programs that impact site operations
- Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles.
- Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
- Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
- Recommends equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
- All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: (Emergency Response duties and/or coverage, Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Entry Level E01 Engineer &ndash New Graduate
- E1- B.S in Engineering
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Mid-level E02 Engineer
- B.S. in Engineering and 2+ years Nuclear or related engineering experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Senior E03 Engineer
- B.S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 5+ years engineering experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineer Registration
- Advanced technical degree or related coursework
