This is a unique opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic in-house legal department of a company featuring some of the most iconic and beloved restaurant and fitness brands in the nation (Applebee's, Taco Bell, Panera, Arby's, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, and Planet Fitness).
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Litigation, you will be responsible for supporting senior in-house counsel in a variety of litigation and arbitration matters, including matters on which in-house counsel team members serve as lead counsel. Your focus will be on premises liability and commercial cases, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in a variety of other fields, including auto liability, real estate, construction, and ADA Title III.
The position is based in our San Francisco, CA Support Center.
**Responsibilities**
+ Litigate! You will gain experience in all aspects of litigation, from initial investigation through discovery and trial. You will research legal issues, interview witnesses, appear at case management conferences, prepare in-house attorneys to take and defend depositions, draft pretrial and trial motions, participate in pre-trial dispute resolution, and try cases, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility over time.
+ Collaborate closely with outside counsel on non-California litigation matters.
+ Support internal investigations, including conducting and documenting interviews.
+ Review and respond to third-party subpoenas and records requests.

**Key Qualifications**

The good faith estimated range of pay for the above position is $115,000 - $165,000 depending on factors including but not limited to experience and skill. There is a target discretionary incentive bonus of 20%.

General Summary
We are seeking a focused and determined attorney to join Benderson Development as Litigation Counsel. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling premises liability claims, lawsuits, contract disputes, and other commercial issues. We're seeking a passionate Product & Litigation Counsel to support our mission as we make personal transportation safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable. In this role, you'll help steer our cutting-edge, all-electric robotaxi service from design and testing to full-scale commercial launch, providing critical legal guidance on product liability and safety at every stage. You'll be working directly with Zoox's Associate General Counsel & Director, Product & Regulatory, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobility.
In this role, you will:
- Manage vehicle and incident claims and lawsuits, respond to civil subpoenas, and support the company's litigation readiness.
- Work closely with our product, engineering, safety, and operations teams to identify and mitigate product litigation risks.
- Support incident response, including investigations, reporting, and communications.
- Review technical documentation, safety reports, and other publications for legal risk alignment and external messaging.
- Provide general legal support across the company on all matters as Zoox's operations and services grow.
- 6+ years of legal experience focused on products liability, automotive negligence, and/or safety-related matters.
- Strong litigation background, including experience managing litigation and familiarity with discovery best practices.
- Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced and innovative environment, coupled with the skills to "play out of position" as needed.
- Demonstrated inquisitiveness, with a passion for learning and independent problem-solving.
- Excellent business and legal judgment, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree with outstanding academic credentials and admission to at least one state bar.
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), or other complex consumer products.
- Experience in the ridehail or common carrier industry.
- Experience working on a product launch or service rollout.
- On-call or incident response experience.
- Experience responding to government inquiries or investigations.
- Background in insurance, consumer protection, privacy, or commercial law
$183,000 - $220,000 a year
Base Salary Range
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.

**Compensation Overview**
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

+ Acquire knowledge and understand how to develop and apply effective trial skills through increased litigation complexity.
+ Provide legal research and demonstrate effective and persuasive legal writing and presentation skills.
+ Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other file documents under the supervision of experienced counsel.
+ Attend court events and other appointments with or under the supervision of experienced counsel.
+ Learn and understand Claim customer's expectations and key department business goals and assists them in meeting those goals.
+ Handle a reduced, lower complexity caseload.
+ Handle special projects as assigned.
+ Provide recommendations and case analysis to all business partners on appropriate file handling strategy.
+ Effectively utilize support staff consistent with office protocols and best practices.
+ Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships.
+ Adhere to all best practices in file management.
+ Fully and effectively utilize available technology, case management system and automation.
+ Travel as required to meet business needs.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
