**The Role**
Lumen is looking for a Senior Engineer with demonstrated expertise in technical writing and documentation. This role demands a strong command of written communication, especially in developing Methods & Procedures (M&Ps), and detailed technical job aides. The ideal candidate brings precision, clarity, and an ability to translate complex engineering processes into comprehensive, actionable documentation.
This role involves extensive inside plant activities, requiring hands-on expertise in high-performance network systems. Responsibilities include performing site surveys to assess infrastructure readiness; installing, provisioning, and commissioning equipment; and executing turnup and testing of advanced networking technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical knowledge of DWDM systems, Packet Optical Transport Networks (OTN), SONET architecture, and router environments. Success in this role requires a combination of sharp analytical judgment, strong documentation habits, precision, and practical engineering experience within compliance-driven federal programs.
**The Main Responsibilities**
-Create and maintain clear, scalable technical documentation tailored for federal environments, including:

-Develop diagrams, schematics, and equipment layouts using tools such as Microsoft Visio
-Perform detailed site surveys to evaluate infrastructure conditions and project feasibility
-Produce Engineering Design Packages (EDPs) for inside plant (ISP) installations, ensuring alignment with Lumen's technical proposal standards and federal requirements
-Ensure documents are updated post-deployment and reflect "as-built" conditions
-Collaborate with federal stakeholders, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to translate mission requirements into technical solutions
-Conduct comprehensive testing of DS-3, OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, and OC-192 circuits using Bit Error Rate Testers (BERTs), Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), Optical Power Meters, and other precision optical test equipment
-Ability to execute turnup and testing of DWDM systems, Packet Optical Transport Networks (OTN), SONET platforms, and high-performance router networks

**Compensation**

**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 10+ years of sales engineering experience within the telecom sector with expertise in Managed Services and SD-WAN.
+ 5+ years of experience supporting state and local government accounts.
+ Experience supporting multiple accounts, direct and indirect, across a large geographic footprint with the ability to multitask across multiple opportunities, RFPs and projects.

Public Sector Account Executives (AEs) lead the strategic business growth for new and existing Lucid government customers across their assigned territories. AEs will interface with Business Development Representatives (BDRs) and Inside Sales Representatives (ISRs) to identify target markets and verticals while directing and participating in outbound prospecting efforts. Post prospect qualification, AEs will work directly with potential and existing customers to create business value across multiple personas, continually working to close sales opportunities. **Responsibilities:**
+ Identify and close business in your assigned territory (state & local accounts)
+ Build a territory plan with equal focus on expansion, growth, and net new opportunities
+ Foster strong relationships across all target accounts and build new champions through strategic prospecting efforts
+ Handle complex negotiations that are mutually beneficial and strengthen customer relationships
+ Consult and advise large, strategic customers resulting in increased adoption, success, and enterprise-wide deployments
+ Work closely with and provide mentorship to your assigned development rep
+ Travel when needed (1-3 weeks a quarter recommended)
+ Other duties as assigned
**Requirements:**
+ 4+ years of sales experience (as an Account Executive, Account Manager, or similar role), preferably in SaaS/software
+ 2+ years of experience selling into government accounts (preferably state & local)
+ Proven track record of exceeding sales quotas
+ Ability to project manage complex sales cycles with internal stakeholders (business development, CSM, solution engineers)
+ Knowledge of cloud applications and complex SaaS solutions
+ Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
+ Skilled in prospecting, territory planning, and team-selling
+ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience working with RTX, LMCO, SAIC, GDIT, Northrop Grumman, and others system integrators
+ Expert user of sales enablement solutions (Salesforce, Outreach, etc.)
